Actually no, they would just have a full license with 6 points on. The "totting up" points revocation would only come into force if the driver got any more points within the first 2 years after passing their test. i.e. even 1 more point would get their license revoked. For example it's possible to get 9 points on a provisional, pass your test and then still hold a new full license with 9 points!
Learn something new everyday! That seems stupid though, they have demonstrated that they are not responsible enough to drive, if you get >6 points on your provisional I think you should have to revoked for x years
