Police pursuits

Well, if they don't chase, the offender will, in the vast majority of cases never be arrested.

If there's no pursuits, why would anyone stop? If i told you you could get away with speeding by just not stopping, would you pull over for the police? Why, then, would someone who'd committed a more serious offence?

Pursuits in the UK are very strictly managed. Only specially trained officers in suitable vehicles can pursue, and even then they'll be strict rules on what they can and can't do. All pursuits will be risk assessed both by officers on the scene and need authority from a senior officer. If either decide the risk is too high, the pursuit will be stopped. If the senior officer does not believe the pursuit is necessary (eg, the driver is known and can be located later) the pursuit will be stopped.

Why not? Trained marksman. Correct timing. Chase over.

Safer than a stinger for the occupants of the car!

I think you're underestimating how difficult it is to shoot a small target moving erratically at high speed from another vehicle also moving at high speed at a distance of several hundred meters :p

Speed becomes irrelevant when matched. Don't need to be several hundred metres away. Target isn't small in terms of target sizes that marksmen are trained to shoot. Erratic movement becomes less likely as they're not being chased by police cars.
Boom. (not headshot)

Spoken like a true Battlefield 4 expert. I doff my fedora.

police interceptors ftw

anyway I thought if the risk is too high ie over a certain speed limit then the officers pull back to avoid a fatal accident, think I've only seen this happen once though on TV. Usually they catch the culrprit on foot after coming to a stop or get the ole chopper out

dont mess with this guy, he could hit an action man with a nerf gun from 20 yards away with his eyes closed

Normal small arms fire will go straight through a car, a .50 cal round is definitely not going to be stopped. After a ricochet it could go anywhere.

You're not shooting through the car though. You're shooting through the engine block. The most dense part of the vehicle with a weapon and ammunition specifically designed for that role.
