I mean...did anyone bother to Google this because there's literally no news story I can find (other than 'Rebal News' building a story around the tweet Dowie posted) to say that Formula 1 grid girls have been replaced by drag queens.lol you got baited by twitter
To be fair most tweets and 'news' articles everyday could be Aprils Fool jokes.A lot of serious debate going on here regarding an obvious Aprils Fool joke
That's pretty disrespectful of drag ArtistsA lot of serious debate going on here regarding an obvious Aprils Fool joke
Jokes are banned.A lot of serious debate going on here regarding an obvious Aprils Fool joke

It's a "joke" that has been around in very similar formats since *checks notes* well over 100 years ago.The 'joke' relies on the fact that certain males actually are surplanting females in some areas of society.
The sport shouldn’t be needlessly objectifying women, if they used a variety of models of different sexes dressed in different ways for the role then I wouldn’t have a problem with it but the overall message from using attractive women as ring girls, pit girls etc etc is to assign a value to a women for her looks and present an image to a wider audience which isn’t particularly pleasant or helpful. If the women are ok with it then why are people against it? Movie stars get paid well for looking good rather than their acting ability, but I can't see anyone moaning about them. My view is if they want to be paid for looking good then ok, it's their choice and we should respect that.

Quite, although i'm not surprised @dowie and the usual crowd fell for it though...A lot of serious debate going on here regarding an obvious Aprils Fool joke
They are at the F1 to add some glamour. The same reason they have massive bottles of champagne. Its all a big show.
None of your other comparisons make sense though, the issue is the objectification of women, the use or grid girls/ring girls reduces the value of a woman to simply her looks every thing else you list requires at least some skill. Yes our society is horribly biased towards looks but that doesn't mean we should encourage it by using women to 'add glamour'. I really struggle to see why people fail to understand this point, thank god society seem to be moving past it even if it will be leaving some of you behind.Everything is needless up to a point. Do they need a big podium at the end of the race. Do they need a big bottle of bubbly? Do they need to travel around the world every week? Do they need to drive cars that fast?
The grid girls job is to look attractive. In the same way that a cooks job is to be able to cook food. The same way an F1 drivers job is to drive really fast around a track. By your logic we should have some good drivers, some bad, some women, some men. Wouldn't want a job that is essentially looking good to be dominated by people who are good at that like every other profession...
Society assigns value to looks. Always has and always will. The same way it assigns value to height, weight, intelligence, sociopathic behaviour, nice behaviour, being sociable etc. Thats how everything works. Why do you think a huge proportion of pop stars are attractive, film stars, people on TV. People like to look at attractive things. They like to go to pretty places. They like to look at attractive people.
In fact I am going to start a petition to have more failed doctors allowed to practice because its outrageous that we discriminate against the less able academically.

You and your crowd labelling this sort of public performance a 'joke' is not the big brain take your seem to think it is.
Again the deliberate gaslighting and lack of any coherent standards of the progressives comes out to play....
On one hand....
'Duh of course this was a joke!'
But them on the other hand...
.... when the ridiculousness of exactly the same thing happening elsewhere is pointed out some people start screeching about all sorts of phobias and supposed bigotry.
So which is it? Can we all point out the ridiculousness of such scenarios and take the **** out of any one that takes them seriously or was Eastasia always at war with Oceania?
