I'm not that bothered about aspect ratio, I just want either a bigger monitor with at least the same ppi as 1440/27 (plus 100hz+ and gsync), or a decent VR headset - but that means good fov and absolutely no screen door which the first gen (vive and riftCV1) still have, so I will probably pass

Well the Samsung arrived today.

Set it up and was greated by something behind the screen, either a fly or debris.

Was about to start man crying and send it back but after poking and tapping it eventually fell down and is now gone.

I was worried about backlight bleed but this VA panel shows nothing but a black screen.

As yet I cant fault the purchase - With the initial problem now gone :o

Off to try some 60Hz gaming ;)

That looks pretty awesome. Let us know how it games. :D

Oh that Samsung does look nice. I really would like to try ultrawide 34" but from the threads I've read they all seem to have their issues.
Is 60Hz the fastest refresh of these atm? Are there any with faster refresh coming soon?

So how's the gaming on an ultrawide IPS panel at 60hz?

Tried ultra wide.

Did not like the curve one bit (it's a pointless cancer of the TV/Monitor world) on the Samsung and the aspect ratio did not do a lot for me.

16.9 for me.

4k 16.9 will be my next move.

And yes definitely needs the 'Yes : And I went back to 16:9 and couldn't be happier' option as that is what I would have chosen.

From what I have tested so far its not bad coming from a 120Hz 27" TN panel.

The immersion is amazing without a doubt.

I need to test it a lot more from the short play time I did last night.

I'm capping frames at about 90 so far with afterburner to avoid using any V-sync and so far this is working out fine.
