Because the thing you're "pointing out" is complete nonsense and doesn't stand up to scrutiny. It's taken over 40 years to bring some white Christian rapists to justice (e.g. Fred Talbot just this week). Religion and race is a minor factor, not the root cause.

this is/was a real issue not 'nonsense' - it has been well documented:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...l-is-judged-not-fit-for-purpose-10024456.html

The Independent said:
Government commissioners are taking over Rotherham Council amid damning fresh evidence that it failed to tackle widespread sex abuse in the town because of “misplaced political correctness” and then tried to silence people who wanted to expose the scandal.

The authority’s entire leadership resigned after a new inspection report accused it of being in denial about the operation of paedophile gangs mainly of Pakistani origin.

They subjected more than 1,400 children to rape, violence and trafficking over a 16-year period. According to the report, senior figures at the council were reluctant to intervene for fear of being labelled racist.

posting out that other rapes happen or that rapes in general are hard to prosecute doesn't change the fact that this was an issue - it is just the usual whataboutery and deflection we see in these threads

what was a straightforward point about people in authorities being reluctant to act out of fear of being racist has now been sidetracked and generated off topic posts because someone decided to chirp in with 'what about other rapes' 'are you implying X' etc.. when it has nothing to do with the topic or point being made

Even if May wins, if she doesn't win with her massive landslide numbers she'll be a laughing stock, as that was supposedly the whole reason for this election.

I have to admit I had expected to see the Tory poll lead increase in any polling following Monday nights events, traditionally people go Tory for security and defence, however May is beginning to look rattled, first the botched manifesto launch then the ignominy of the U-turn and now the press starting to lay into the Tory Government for various things including cutting police numbers and withdrawing Control Orders, all under May's watch when she was Home Secretary, its going to be hard to escape that.

I'm not entirely sure Corbyn's linking of foreign intervention to terror is going to help his poll numbers though.

At most i predict <30 majority, i'd ignore the labour vote on this poll tbh, nobody is really going to vote Libdem in this proportion.

well it certainly make's it more of a real contest

If she ends up losing seats but wins with a minority I'd be rather happy with a Lib Dem coalition again - could be quite good for Brexit talks. If she wins significantly more seats then that again is good for Brexit talks.. If she ends up with more or less the same number of seats though then not good at all - she's then under more influence from hardcore leavers in her party.

I'd rather the Lib Dems just let them run with minority governance, they can croak on it. The good thing is the DUP cant really help the Tories at the moment.

ideologically i'm for Labour and what a lot of Corbyn stands for but realistically the best I can hope for is another coalition

Haven't Lib Dems said no to a coalition though?

I think they are looking at a minority now also. She's essentially unelected even by her own party. I think they have over estimated her popularity and ability to work unscripted.

Right from the start she's looked poor. All the staged meetings, pre arranged questions etc. Then as seen on Monday when she was pressed live both at dementia u turn and on Andrew Neil she really struggled badly.

Put their unpopular polices ontop of her unconvincing displays and they haven't half made a mess of it

And no TV debates for good measure but I guess we now know why

Which will be an embarrassment for May, may actually mortally wound her bearing in mind when she called for the election it was looking like a given to have at least a 100 seat majority, maybe even 150.

And now rumours of another u turn on the school breakfasts as it's costed at just 7p per meal and not taking into account extra staff wages, then it's pretty hilarious.

a simple question for everyone and not aimed at any political party.

but when a mp does a u-turn why are people so eager to jump on them. surely a mp listening or figuring out they need to change their stance is a good thing ?? so why do so many people be it mass media or politicians and members of the public act like total idiots having fits shouting "U TURN!!!!" id rather have a politician be grown up enough to say they where wrong or at the very least change their stance if proven wrong, rather than just ignore everything and plod on.

They lead the county so we should expect better? They should be able to gauge the popularity of a certain policy and have done the ground work to be able to defend it to the hilt IF they actually believe in it.

It smacks of seeing what they can get away with then severely backtracking when it's clearly an unpopular policy.

Look at the breakfast club issue. 7p....no staff costs.Does that sound like something they actually sat down and thought about at length., Not to mention they are scrapping lunches to do it!

I think it very much depends on how they U-turn. If at first they slate something and use it for political poo throwing and then U-turn, then it shows they are fickle and policies are used just to gain popularity points rather than for the sake of the policy. If a politician went 'fair enough, i now think this is the correct course of action' then it obviously it is more in line with your example of character.

Most people assume most politicians are of the first example, as they tend to be so.
