well in other tread 4850@ stock is not behind of two 8800gt overclocked in crysis benchmark witch is quite impressive, but 4870x2 for me

:D. It was about the R600 (2900XT) not being as good as the 8800GTX on it's release. I was implying that since you've been to both manufacturers that you were a spy for Nvidia and had warned them that the new R600's new architecture was nothing to write home about with AA so they changed the plan and done things the old way.

See what happens if you're high and bored on a Saturday evening :o.

Maybe price coming into it.

for me with my pc at moment i only want something like the 4850 so it will last me until early/mid next year when i upgrade my mb,cpu and ram.

I'm nitpicking here, I agree, but PhysX is a company owned by nVidia. AMD's physics solution is coming from Havok, which is owned by Intel. AMD doesn't seem to be touching PhysX with a barge pole.

I'm picking 4870X2 unless the Nvidia drivers for the new cards do a good job. My experiences with my 8800GTX have put me off them for the time being.

Yep, I think my reasoning is one of the main issues to be honest.
My Vista reliability monitor score has crept up to 10 and remained there since I bought my 3870X2.
 
the Nvidia offerings will probably be too expensive for me, so unless the GTX280 beats the 4870 by a mahoosive amount I'll get the ATI card instead
 
'None' - Got a new-build coming up later this month and I think an 8800GTX will be fine for TF2 and COD4.

However, towards the end of the year I may upgrade to a better card, and currently keeping the keenest eye on the 4870
 
None initially, I only got my 8800GTX 3 months ago.

Will probably be NV, the ATi seems slower, and since neither SLI or Xfire is anything but a scam for idiots (or people who play the 2 games it works in), I gotta go with the quicked single card solution.
 
I'm planning on snapping up a 4870 x2 whenever they're released.. That should be ample performance. Meanwhile I'll stick with my 8800.
