POLL: Will you be moving from Haswell to Skylake?

Nope my 4770K does me just fine. Even if I was contemplating an upgrade ( to X99 ) the whole uncertainty over if I can transfer W10 it would make me not do it

I besticking with my 4770k for the time being, might invest in a new monitor though :)

I was hoping to upgrade, but I'll be holding onto my current i7 system. Skylake is nothing but another side grade option. Infact looking at the overclocking potential of the 6700k my current system is faster.

I thought 14nm would have lowered prices, improved overclocking and offered at least a 6 core desktop chip.

No.

I can't see Skylake being enough of a boost over Haswell to justify the cost. If I want extra performance from my 4770k I'll probably delid and overclock before changing CPU, mobo and RAM. Again. But I expect this system to last a couple of years yet before I get the itch again.

No chance!

Unless my mb dies and I can't get a replacement.
Will do some research when Pascal arrives and IF needed do the lot then.

As I'm on an old Q6850 chip on an XFX 780i mobo that is starting to feel quite old I am tempted to go the Skylake route as it's not to badly priced.

Nope, just bought a 2nd hand 4790k to replace my 5 year old Lynnfield. Overclocked its about as fast as 6700k@stock so im happy enough. Saved a few hundred over going skylake

no. sticking with Haswell until Skylake-E or most likely CanonLake(-E), Zen might be an option but to much rumor at this point

No chance, in fact I'm currently downscaling my 4770k rig to something more budget, as I don't need the grunt at all

Downgraded from a x99 and 5930k....

Never looked back...I don't feel I've been ripped off running this budget setup...in fact I'm enjoying it more tbh...playing Farcry 4 today was no different than on the 800 quid mobo x99 combo...

And that's the truth.:D

Agreed!

Could do what I do - upgrade every 5 years at cost of £100 - £150. Buy 2nd hand parts then sell your old parts. I did this from Q6600 > i5 760 > i7 4790k
