How I can I show you proof? As I have said, videos are pointless, because people will always say they are faked. My aunt conducts seances, I could invite you to a sitting but the circle is closed. It's Catch-22 really, which is a shame. I said in an earlier topic that I wouldn't revisit this subject because there really was no point discussing it in this forum. We will only go round in circles.

Of course, because people think they have all the answers these days. They think that now, in the year 2011, we have worked out and experienced absolutely everything we can experience and that all the answers are available, so they will explain things away based on their limited ideas of reality. Many think there is no such thing as the paranormal and for a lot of people there is no such thing as the spiritual. As I have said, the only proof is experience.

I am going to do this with my son who is 2 in a couple of months:

FOR FUN when visiting friends, teach your 2-yr-old to point into empty rooms and say "Who is that sad little boy?"
 
The problem is, technology has moved on so much now that pretty much any footage will be considered to be fake.

Theres now an explosion of footage of UFO's, Poltergeists etc in the last few years with the advent of home editing equipment, its easy to do and make a quick buck from, believers will say its because people have recording equipment that its now being captured.

The recent poltergeist stuff has been shown how easy it is to fake (and lets not forget that NQghosthunter left evidence of the strings he used before the poltergiest followed him home, if he faked that, he's obviously faking everything else he did).
 
Last thing I taught my Niece was to wave Goodbye to her Poo, She stood there waved & said "Bye Poo" :D
Next thing will have to be "I see Dead People" :D + :p

Precisely this, a point I have raised over and over. Video editing and special effects are very advanced these days. Even videos can never be considered as proof because of what it's possible to achieve now.

The only way people on both sides will accept acceptance of anything paranormal is like the video of the dome of the rock UFO that was faked, an event captured on multiple unconnected cameras or live on television.

But thats just the point mate... You can't because by definition of the word; there is no proof. If there was, you would be able to show it me. That doesn't mean you cant believe in ghosts.

I mean I believe in the existence of alien life. Why? Because given the size of the universe it statistically makes sense to me. But would I ever claim to have proof? No of course not. Even if I had been visited by a little green man in a spaceship that would not give me actual proof unless I had something tangiable which I could present to the world as evidence as a result of that experience.

Until that day arrives I cannot claim that there is proof of extra-terrestrial life even though I feel it is a certainty. Just as you cannot claim that there is proof of ghosts. Because simply there is not.

You are basing your opinion (and rightfully so) on your personal experiences. But that doesn't mean you have proof. They are two completely different concepts.

But thats just it, truly rational people don't believe they have all the answers. They are are well aware that there is plenty that we do not understand yet about the universe. Are are always open to possibilities. I am one of these people. However, rational people also expect proof before their viewpoint changes from one of dismissal to belief.

This is normal rational behaviour, it is not closed-mindedness.

it's like the other question as to why these activities happen at night well 99% of them do, the reason is that during the day we so busy were our lives that we really dont notice things, i.e floors creeking, whereas at night you can hear anything.

You can beleive this or not but when my nan passed 2 years ago my parents were discussing funeral speaches in the dining room, at the time i was lying on my bed when my computer just turned off, i bet 99% people here think there is a genuine reason why it did, however i think it was my nan saying goodbye.

You are completely entitled to believe that... But... My computers have turned themselves off hundreds of times over the years. That doesn't mean it's a spirit trying to contact me.

The truth is... We see what we want to see in otherwise mundane events. It's almost a comfort mechanism. And if that helps people cope with life then so be it. It's no different to religion... Believe in it by all means. Just don't claim this stuff as fact or claim to have evidence. See it for what it is. An unsubstantiated belief. Nothing more.
