Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

Won't sell for that. A good cash offer will see you pick one up for far lower. Artificial price bubbles are irritating.

I just find it highly annoying you need to be vetted to buy the car end but flippers can still get there hands on them. It's a little ironic really!

What we need is a interest rate rise / housing crash and that should start returning silly season back to normality.

That's the problem, not many people have that amount of cash down the back of the sofa.

Totally agree and at those sorts of prices, they tend to mostly go to art collectors/car investors who stick them away from sunlight.

I wasn't there due to work commitments, but I had planned to go on the Saturday for the social and some laps in friends cars as I wouldn't take the MX5 race car to an event like that due to being far too slow on such a track with the cars that were running. Load of friends were there in a mixture of motors, but lots of GT3's/GT3 RS's, McLaren and some classic Porsche too and Lotus's.

What were you in Vox?

There was some serious metal there, with most cars being a GT3 RS of some kind. Took my M3 for the journey but didn't go out on track, went out as a passenger with the rest of our group however, was good fun.

Set of photos from the weekend taken by SS-89 is here. I warn you all there is some very tasty Porsche content.

All true. But it also helps drive sales of the less popular models I'm more inclined to take a 30k hit on a new car if I know I will make 15 to 20k back on a GT car.

The problem with that though, is finding a good OPC who will allow you to buy a special car.

As you know about the problems I've had with my local OPC and being told categorically they wont sell me a GT car and all the other ****-ups they have done ill no longer use them.

Christ! Don't hold back you're thought's at the end with a rather shocking statement.

The engine specs : 2 ltr, 4 cyl, single turbo developing 296bhp. Exact as a Golf R. It's a Golf with a canvas roof :p

It's a ground up sports car which looks awesome. The Golf R is as soul-less as the engine they both share.

The 718 is also soul-less when they have ripped the heart out of in a quest for more MPG, yes I am aware that's a direct quote from that review but its spot on.

Yes, but at some point in the top end models will actually get proper engines.

All being that remains true but we shall see, I know the GT4 has been confirmed as NA but the GTS is unknown.

I did find this video on YouTube about someone has fitted the GT4 side blades to a normal Cayman S. Do you think its worth a upgrade?

My first proper purchase for mine - discs & pads, and a service pack (filters/plugs) from Design 911.

After having to buy a petrol cap from Porsche last week - only £9! Impressed! Lol

Hi all, noticed today my fuel filler cap door won't open.

Is there a suggestion or a manual override?

Yes... The car has been tried locked and unlocked.

I've tried pushing on it but don't want to bend the door. I can't see anything in the boot behind the filler cap access?

Also is there some kind of breather solenoid?

On the 996 if you open the drivers door you should see a little ring you can pull which manually overrides the lock on the filler cap. Some cars have it, some cars don't. If your car doesn't take out the arch liner and you can get to the solenoid that opens the cap.

Cheers mate. I was trying hard to open it in case it was a slight catch however didn't want to bend the filler cap door or mark it. Was looking into that however it is in a garage at the moment that I can't do anything other than squeeze in to get in! lol. It is literally 6" wider than the car and I have to keep a towel in the car to drape over the door when I get in and out to stop it marking against the wall.

But anyway - I went in today and activated the central locking, heard a whirr that wasn't the door locks and the damned thing opened every time!!! Grrrr! lol

So the car has just spent 2 days being washed.

More pics and details tomorrow.
