Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

Looks lush. What sort of clean was that? :)

My 996 is having issues with the idling as it keeps stalling when hot with no lights on dash. Annoying as struggles to restart but fires up with a little accelerator.

Disconnect your maf sensor to see if that stops the stalling, if so you need a new maf sensor.

Yes, I have had a few of my cars done in the past but this time I spent a bit more and got it don't by a very good detailer.

Ahhh OK cool. Yeah I spoke with a detailer who advised against DIY application of this kind of stuff in case it doesn't go on correctly.. as once it's on... it's not coming off easily haha

G-techniq is pretty good. I've had the paint protection coat done on a few cars following a detail. Lasts a number of months. Application is fairly idiot proof to be honest. You just need to be patient.

I went on a long country drive and lunch in goodwood with some friends today.

991 Turbo S. So rapid it's just unbelievable.

996 GT3 RS. This thing is so loud

DC5. Actually kept up quite well on the twisty bits.

Is there actually anywhere I can just get brake fluid from that isn't Porsche or rubbish. Want to do a bleed Saturday but left it a bit late to order! Running super blue at the moment so was looking for norm colour so I know it's flushed through.

Next Monday is D-day.

Getting local garage to fit new Pagid discs (using Pagid Cera-tec to their amusement lol) and pads. Not sure whether to use old bolts or fit new ones as have them? Depends on condition I guess.

Also going to change oil and filter for mann filter and Miller Nanodrive CFS 10w50 NT.

How much oil does it hold though? I've seen 8.25 litres? But then maybe 8.75 litres?

Will also look into fitting Beru spark plugs and Mann air and pollen filters. Spark plug gap is supposed to be 1.6mm? 1999 C2 Tiptronic.

Anyone know where you can order a manual from?

Like a Haynes manual where it contains all the torques settings. I've seen here: http://www.emanualonline.com/advanc...in_description=1&keywords=porsche+996&x=0&y=0 Has anyone used them??

Hi mate, I have the full workshop manual which I will host for you its massive as in like 1gb so might take a while to download but has everything you might need. I will post a link when it is uploaded.

Calliper bolts, Porsche recommend new ones each time and frankly for safety sake and for a few quid you should fit them. Oil wise it takes 9quarts or roughly 8.5 litres. What I do is drain it fill it up with 8 and see where you are at then top it up to full. Job done.

While you are doing the sparks you should also consider changing core plugs and spark plug tubes and seals as the seals on these are known for weeping and the tubes get brittle and crack.

Thank you for that mate. I'll have a go at downloading at my mums when you link and let you know when I have. Thanks. Give me an email address and I'll drop you a few quid. :)

I'll check those core plugs and tube out.

Just had a look at how to change an air filter and the pollen filter.... Looks as easy as my Ford! Will do them in my garage at weekend.

Thank you Vince!

Drop me a message on the other site and i'll buy you a beer mate!

It was no worries at all mate. Always happy to help out a fellow owner. Also note that it constantly reminds you in brakes under the running gear PDF not to re-use caliper bolts

So - engine flush or no engine flush? I normally put it in and thinking I will as I don't know the oil.

Is there a reason not to!? Will it damage the engine? If it does I need proof. :)

Noted Vince. ;)

I believe you shouldn't use flush oil in most modern engines as the tolerances are so fine it potential could cause issues such as dislodging deposits which may cause issues elsewhere.

I also heard that it can "dilute" bearing lubrication and cause wear, but not sure how true that is.

Also, modern engines run a great deal cleaner, so it raises a question as to whether it is necessary at all.

Most people buy a cheap, perhaps less viscous oil, run it for a very short interval and drop it before using the expensive stuff - essentially flushing the engine.

I wouldn't put flush oil anywhere near a Porsche personally.
