Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

Not really. They should last for 100K miles if well maintained and that would more than pay for itself in the long run. They also provide incredible non-fade braking, once warmed up as cold they are not good and also retain some resale value. They also reduce the unsprung weight at each corner, though not sure most people would realise this in normal driving.

I stand corrected. Still not sure that I would reap the benefits of them!

Seriously nice looking build, why the ceramic brakes out of interest? I would be really put off buying a car with them as they seem so expensive to maintain for little benefit day to day. If you're on a track every weekend I can understand, but otherwise £5k could surely be saved or better spent elsewhere?

I have PCCB's on my CGTS and the difference is night and day compared to normal Steels. I was given the opportunity when I was spec'ing the car to back to back a lot of options at the PEC in Silverstone. It brings a much greater braking sensation to the peddle.

My GTS current has 10200 miles on it and the brakes look as day it was driven from out of the dealers. They should be good for around 100,000 miles before you require a disc replacement and its recommend to change the pads at 50% usage to minimize heat transfer.

I do find myself watching mine for cracks as the bill to replace if they get damaged is pant wetting.

I know its cheaper on the GTS to buy a new Fiesta than replace all the discs.

Interesting rumours are afoot from Rennlist: http://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...91-2-gts-gt3-gt2-gt3-rs-mission-e-update.html

GTS to come out this year with 450 hp

GT3 configurable in January, 495 hp, manual option, not definite on the wing delete and surprisingly on the motor, its between a 4.0 or a 4.2! definitely not 3.8
4.2 would be detuned for the GT3 and then full potential for the coming RS. Apparently the GTS is going to be so fast they have to move up in torque, hence he thinks its going to be a 4.2 but he is not sure, he is only sure on no 3.8l

GT2 coming towards the end of 2017

GT3 RS 2018 first half

Mission E coming in 2019 with 3 configurations. 500-700km on one charge depending on the battery pack you choose and 400-600 hp options
starting at 130.000 Euro/$ for the 400hp and 500km version

Am I right in saying there was a chap on here who swapped out the side repeaters on his Cayman GTS with LED variants (RSR?)? Am looking to get the same for my 991 but I can only find a US supplier, did you have any luck buying them from the UK or did you have to import them? Also any regrets in doing it?

That was me, I just got them from my local dealer. :D

Do you have the part numbers? If not i'll grab the numbers from the boxes in the garage.

Oh I didn't know it was an official part! I don't have the part number and am struggling to find it, if you have the boxes that would be fantastic :) also do you mind saying how much the part cost? Given the price above I'm expecting about £100 for both.

I'll go and grab the boxes and ill dig out the invoice but 100 for the pair seems to ring a bell.

P991.631.255.05 - Drivers Side
P991.631.256.05 - Passenger Side

£41.30 +VAT Each

So that's £99.12 for the pair.

:D

That is a hell of a lot of money for a C4S albeit with decent options.

I would definitely be looking else where at competitors at that price point as suggested.

Agreed it is lovely but 125k on what is otherwise just a regular run of the mill 911. I'd rather just buy used and save a tonne of cash or buy something special that will hold value better like a GT Porsche.

Sad day for me on Monday as I can no longer participate in this thread, after 5 and a bit years I sold my 911.

Bit of a head over heart moment, but think I sold at the right time of year not to get too emotional over it. With my take up of cycling, I barely used it, and when I did it was an absolute pain to transport my bike and kit for racing. Nothing has replaced it as yet, but will be looking for something a bit more useful for me in the short term and maybe give it a few years save up some cash and get myself back into something from Stuttgart.

Will you be arranging and attending the next Southern meet on a bicycle? :D

Sad to hear that it had to go. Hope you find something suitable to replace it with. :) Useful you say... RS6? ;)
