Hi there

Collecting this at weekend:

Looking forward to it, wanted a PDK as it shall be used almost daily by myself and Mrs.
Ideally would like to get Sports Chrono (not the clock) retrofitted to add the sports / sports plus buttons, not sure if OPC's still offer this or a specialist but something to look into. :)

You can retrofit it with some coding and adding the sport/sport plus buttons. OPC would likely only do the full package, clock included.

The 987R is such a bloody good car. Great buy.

Looks absolutely fantastic and you've got the proper seats. 987.2 Cayman R is a brilliant piece of kit. You'll enjoy it. I think if you want to get a real hustle on the PDK will be quicker than the manual that everyone obsesses over - but it's hardly a weak choice !

I'm very happy with my 987.1 3.4 Cayman S - I'll eventually fit Cayman R suspension to it and an LSD I imagine. It's so much car for the money.

Thanks guys spent weekend machine polishing and applying Gtechniq CSL and EXO 5yr ceramic coating.

It’s come up great and car is totally unmarked, pristine condition.

That’s a lovely colour for that car

peridot green is *the* colour for a Cayman R.

Do you have any plans for it @Gibbo ? I assume Alignment and make sure its tip top mechanically and then drive the tyres off it ?!

Purchased from an enthusiast so it’s had following done:

GT3 master brake cylinder
GT3 brake cooling ducts
RS29 Pads
RSS GT3 front lower arms
JZM track alignment

Never had a single MOT advisory in its life, 31,000 miles and pristine has an upgraded sound system so car play, reverse camera etc ideal as it’s a daily.

It’s got the annoying rear hatch clunk / rattle so need to check the bootie dampener and maybe place some well positioned pieces of foam/velcro to resolve that, tweaking bootlid stops has helped though.

It’s on Michelin Supersports, loads of tread all round but rears are dated 2021/22 and the fronts 2015/2017 so the fronts are too old but still seem soft and grippy probably helps it’s lived in a garage and done limited miles, however suspect won’t be long until I fit a set of ContiSport 7 all round.

Nice. I've got the GT3 MC and brake cooling ducts on my one with RBF600 fluid. huge difference. Are RS29 pads any good for day to day use or are they like DS2500's were all those years ago when cold braking was terrifying ?

Rear hatch noises I think are quite common on the 987. They seem really sensitive to the engine cover being poorly refitted.

I've just swapped from Pilot Sport 4S to CSC7s, it's at Cotswold Porsche for its MOT and a few other bits and pieces including alignment. I haven't given them a proper drive yet, but when I do I'll let you know.

The rear rattle is a wild goose chase. Refitting the engine cover (inside to outside tightening sequence) and pushing down on/refitting any plastic trim is always a good start.

I would pay close attention to any interior trim items, gauge cluster, coolant pipes and mounts (need to remove the undertrays), gearbox mounts, and exhaust triangle fixings that join the rear section to the manifolds. The 987R is getting old now and those parts fail quite commonly on older 987.2S model cars. My 987R lost an LED in its gauge cluster a few years in and it was annoying as hell to fix that. I ended up disassembling the gauge assembly twice and resoldering all of the LED SMDs as I couldn't find a single SMD close to the factory white. The exhaust fixings usually rot and get turned into rusted crust by the heat cycles - eventually, gases will escape through the seal and cause a blow. It's better to change them before they are all ****** and need grinding/drilling out.

Have you seen the underside of the car and/or engine and gearbox?

Spotted Camskill had a deal on, £601 for a full set, so ordered them. :)

Thats a great price. I can't get over how cheap they are compared to the Michelin option. Its good there is competition again as I feel Michelin have been the 'go to' tyre for quite some time. Any PCGB event I go to every car has either PS4S or Cup 2 as the tyre choice !

Because I can't leave anything alone :)

I'm not keen on all black interiors, I like a bit of colour. I'm sure it's not to everyone's taste but I like the tartan seat inserts some people have fitted to their cars. I contacted ClassicFX initially for the bolster propectors. They wear and mark so quickly and I'm too lazy to contort myself over them when getting in and out. I asked about inserts and the chap sent me a link to a site which is all tartan patterns. I found a pattern for "Scott" which I liked and had a set made up. The finish and quality is exceptional.

Also, I always fiddle with the audio on my toy cars. My car has BOSE which is fine but I want to be able to tweak the sound stage. There is an option in the US which replaces the BOSE amp without any wires being cut. Unfortunately, by the time it gets here with shipping and customs, it's very expensive. So, I'm doing it myself.

All the main ingredients have now arrived. Next step is to get the drivers seat out and measure up the space where the OE amp lives.

My GT4 has the Bose audio and it's pretty pants. Where is the upgrade listed in the US? I'd like to have a nose.

Sure, search for MusicarNW 718 Bose upgrade. They offer different "stages". It's a nice looking solution.

I'll be changing the speakers to Audiofrog. I placed an order with SCR Distribution, he's run a number of group buys on 718 forum. SCR offers effectively a plug and play option with mounts and correct connections. Save me fabbing up the speaker mounts and leads myself.

Was going to print the amp mount but will be using a perspex base with nylon nuts and bolts and printed brackets to hold it all in place. Dense foam underneath for shock protection.

Rear speakers might be a pain to get to under the cage. The sub is in a tricky place to reach and probably hinder rather than enhance the sound.

I found the noise floor so high in the GT4 it seemed like no stereo upgrade would achieve much, used noise cancelling headphones on long journeys instead! Be interesting how you get on.

Thanks, @EddScott!

The general cabin noise is pretty high, I agree. It is the whole point of a GT4 with the lack of sound isolation, but do I wish I could have a more GTS experience when I'm sitting on the motorway for an hour or more. I have a pair of ANC headphones and will probably give that a try instead!

This is one of the main reasons I don't have a GT4 RS is due to the cabin noise. I already have pretty bad tinnitus and don't want it to get any worse. I saw the cabin noise reports being 100dB+ peak and it was an instant no from me. Shame. Before anyone suggests earplugs, I already wear them for the motorcycles and like my driving experience to be comfortable and ear plug free! We all need some vices.

was about to do a post about how I’m getting on with the CSC7, and saw you’ve done your video @Gibbo

I’ve done quite a bit to the cayman at the same time as fitting them, but the car is outrageously good now. Reallt really happy with it.
