Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

Talking of prices, when does it get to "silly money" to buy a 911? I remember reading a PH article about sub-£10k 911s, but if you were trying to avoid sheds, but keep to a low pricetag, what's the lowest you would consider?

Article here for reference: http://www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=52&i=240779

I would avoid the 3.4 engine like anything. They're not throwaway money yet.

3.6 is the best bet at get the best priced one you can.

I paid £13.5k for a 2004 996 3.6 with the last owner having it for 9 years.

Hmm, running an engine cold all the time is a pretty good way to shorten its life without any additional reliability issues. Doesn't sound great to me, what enjoyment can you get out of a sports car doing that mileage anyway?

I guess, it's just the price of them and for something a bit more fun at weekends

The older none DFI engines have a lot of issues as it is, such short journeys would be a recipe for oil dilution, amongst other things. It would be OK as long as every weekend it got a good warming up and a true good blasting afterwards.

Porsches hate short journeys, they really do, drive them as intended and then they are happy.

A 4-5k Boxster a good one will exist and be a true bargain but for every one good one at this price range there will be 99 dogs. So buy very carefully as these cars can throw huge bills!

So I LOVE my C2S PDK, its the best car I have ever owned.

When do you guys think a 991 PDK will drop to low 50's? I was hoping in about a year to upgrade to a 991

So then.....

991 GT3 is quicker around Bedford than the new Macca MP4-12C by a tenth I believe according to this months Evo magazine, just behind the Superlight R500 and not far off GT2 RS pace. **** knows what the RS will go like. :D

The new E-Hybrid sees its air-cooled NiMH batteries replaced with a water-cooled Li-Ion setup and power up to 95hp at 2,200-2,600rpm and torque at 229lb ft from 0-1,700rpm from the E-motor. That is teamed with a 333hp 3.0-litre supercharged petrol engine of Audi parentage. The result is the kind of spec sheet that looks like a mistake: 167mph, 0-62mph in 5.5 seconds, 91mpg and just 71g/km of CO2.

ow BIK (just five per cent) and the ability to dodge the congestion charge might also attract business users

Now its looking like a good idea to buy a new one via our VAT registered limited company :D
