Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

And the drive is bloody amazing to be honest Simon.

The one I had this weekend, is within 1-2mph on my 911 at every landmark, so OK its a good 50BHP down, but its PDK+ box and 100kg lighter makes up for that 50BHP less.

I really did enjoy it and though I admit it looks awesome, particular with roof down, I do still prefer the Cayman in the looks and supposedly according to the press the Cayman is a little more capable, assuming that's from rigidy of the body from being a coupe and not convertible?

Shall find out on Monday, got mine in for a minor so asked for a Boxster S with manual for the day.

Gibbo - do you use Chester Porsche ( or have you )

My 996 turbo is in on thursday, i have a boxster s for the time it's in over weekend

Wilmslow!
Your gonna love the new Boxster S, drive it on the edge, thrash it, chuck it around and you will love it, at first you will miss the 911 and all that torque. Burn through a tank of petrol or two, maybe three and you won't want to give it back. ;)

If it's PDK stick it in Sports Plus and leave it there and change up at 7600rpm, just be aware maxing out 2nd gear could win you some points on your license as it does like 75ish in 2nd.

Driven the manual, great box and positioned perfectly and better than older cars.

But if I was buying a new Cayman S I'd now choose PDK with chrono and sports plus, it's superb in manual mode and 99% of a manual with all the advantages of an auto for off the Mark and just using in auto.

Make sure you thrash it to a point it's moving around, you will love it. :D

OMG I am so impressed with this boxster s - I love the PDK, don't know if I can go back to manual now!!

Has it got Sports Plus? If so enable it as then it works like a manual and won't kick down mid-corner and it will bounce of the limiter if you don't change up. Superb thing!

yep sports plus, and it has a button that does something to the exhaust as well?

You lucky git! :(

You've got Porsche Sports exhaust, basically floor it in 2nd gear upto 7500rpm and don't change up and just take your foot of the accelerator. You should get lots of pops and bangs, go find some tunnels. :D

I might pop by OCUK later if you're in at about 4.....

That would be awesome.

I will be taking a late lunch today so I might not be around at 4pm on the dot but will be back for around 16:30 and will be here until around 19:00 tonight, so please do drop by. :)

Email me: [email protected]
I will mail back with my mobile number so if I am not onsite I can come and meet you. :)

Porsche assist is amazing. Today driving home something broke in my car, no idea what but it did not sound good.

Called Porsche assist, they are going to collect it in the mooring and drop me a hire car for the weekend, really painless.

Boxster S with PSE sounds epic:-

Make sure you get that roof down and go hunt down some tunnels. ;)

Good to meet you and thanks for the business.

Oh and lets not forget the Jaaaaaag:-

so my 911 turbo needs 6x coilpacks, new front discs and pads.

Anyone know a good source for 996 turbo discs / pads or a good upgrade path - i'll fit them myself.

makes sense to get the coilpacks done now while the engine is dropped for the spark plug change.

Coil packs, just get the beru ones from anywhere else, what Porsche use. Amazed your paying Porsche for the plug change, they charge like £350-£500 to do it, most specialist will do it for £200 including the parts. ;)

Disc, buy from Porsche they can give upto like 25% discount on brakes, so ask them nicely and all 4 should come to £600-£800 which is good for disc.

If you need rears and my 997 rears fit, you can have those very cheap as they are near brand new and I am putting ceramics back on.

You can also have my pads if they fit, don't think they will as I think my brakes are a lot bigger, but again check, I am on 6 piston front and 4 piston rear.

I will give you my Porsche contact, email me and I shall introduce you to him he will be able to tell you what if any of my brakes will fit to your car and he will sort you good prices. :)
