Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

Those photos were taken close to Woodbridge Lodge. I stayed there for a week once, lovely place :)

Anyway, the reason I'm actually here: Magnus Walker. What's the deal with this guy? here's what I know:

No real motorsport pedigree.

Dresses and looks like a tramp.

Makes Porsches look ugly. I mean, look at Jay Leno's video, what it looks like to me is a porker which has been in a shunt and had it's bumpers replaced with whatever he could find, the vents in the side look stupid in that colour, and the flags on the wing give the impression of "I've got these flags lying around, they're too small for a decent sticker and too big for a bumper sticker. Ah screw it, just plop them there".

Yet in Porsche circles, the guy is some kind of hero. Why? All his cars look wrong. Sure people throw word around like "classic" and "contemporary", but why? Makes no sense. Anyone can improve a car's performance and still make it look good, but this guy does that and makes the car look worse.

Can someone enlighten me? Am I just flat out wrong here? Am I missing a certain something something in his cars?

You are indeed flat out wrong, his cars have style.

I love some of the stuff that Magnus Walker does and I'm not even a Porsche owner. His Urban Outlaw video is worth a watch to see some lovely old Porsches.

Saw this on trader this weekend, ok only the 2.7 but didn't seem too bad a buy on the face of it

Also can't believe that the 991 has been out since 2011 now.

trade sale only no px /offers

...in other words the receipt will specify a trade sale so they can get out of any warranty or sales of goods obligations. A boxter from a dealer with none of the dealer benefits. No come-back if it blows up driving off the forecourt.

Yeah there was that lol, saw they had it on a couple of their cars they obviously don't want the risk of it coming back with a big bill for them...

Still, unless they know something is up and it is actually a lemon guessing an appropriately informed buyer may do alright out of that if it checked out ok.

You driven a car with and without m8?

I have not but from what I have read the PDCC is clearly quicker and more comfortable because of how it works, but some people and reviews have mentioned it can reduce feel/feedback.

No I have not, my car has it but I have not driven a 991 without it. However I have a Porsche experience day so I will try both then.

I have a friend coming over today who has a 991 and he said that he did not want the PDCC because it took a bit of the fun out of the car when on the track.

Exactly what I head and I have heard a lot of people say the absolute base spec 991 Carrera with no PDCC, no PTV, manual, smallest wheels possible is the most engaging and fun to drive, but of course won't have the lap times like an all singing 991 C2S with the options will do.

Thats the point, the PDCC car will be faster around the track but some of the entertainment will be gone.

my one has PDCC, Porsche Torque Vectoring, Dynamic engine mounts and PASM.

All of which make a fantastic all round day to day car but probably not the best track weapon.

The 991 is such a massive step forward from the 997 but its much more of a GT car now than a out and out sports cars. I dont think you would be too happy with it but a 997 GTS would probably be better for you.

If we cross paths at some point you are welcome to take it for a spin.

I am quite looking forward to picking up the new Panamera in just over a week, only down side is that between ordering it and now my wife and I split up and it was for her lol. I'm just going to give it to her anyway but not before I take it for a little spin.

Yeah I think the 997 GTS is the best of both worlds, immense on the road and very close to GT3 on the track. :)

Pretty much what my 911 is in all honesty if such a thing existed is equivalent of a GTS as mine has got:
X51 power kit and cooling parts
PASM/Chrono
GT3 front suspension with -2.25 front camber
GT3 front & rear adjustable anti-roll bars
Alcantara gear/steering wheel
Aerokit
Ceramics

On my car adding the GT3 front suspension parts transformed the turn in, but the car is now running a 22mm wider track at the front and the roll bars just got rid of understeer and gave it a lovely neutral and very confident inspiring feel. :)

yes your is a amazing spec and very hard to find.

Have you never considered moving to a Gen 2 car?

I prefer the gen1 to drive and the sound, gen1 has a far better sounding engine/exhaust, gen2 sound poor in comparison and gen1 have more steering feel.

Advantage of gen2 is a more reliable engine and more power, but the claimed mileage figures for the gen2 are BS, when your enjoying the car I found the gen2 no more economic than the gen1, the gen2 is only better on fuel when cruising.

I'd rather a gen2 engine in a gen1 if that makes sense, one thing I will say is the damping on the gen2 cars is far better than the gen2, really noticeable on the road.

Best road car from 911's would be 997.2 GTS (RWD) as a daily and dream car is a 997.2 GT3 RS, have to keep dreaming......

Thanks for that. Bet you can't wait until sunday

I've been counting the days.:D:D

I've also been told that the tracker they install is indeed a Porsche VTS system, so I guess that means it will work with the Porsche Car Connect app on the iPhone.

My collections all been booked for next Sunday at 12pm, it's been such a long wait.

Do you collect your next Sunday as well? Also have you been allocated a build number on the GT4? As I have been reading the threads on PistonsHeads and it seems they will be a very rare and hard to get hold of car.

Collecting your first Porsche is very special, enjoy it.

As I said above, the GT4 is sold for next 2 years pretty much now, you will know by now if you are this year or next year, so if you have not heard you are not in.
