Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

Get some carbon vinyl and GTS graphics. Will look the same and cost 1% of the real thing.

I've thought about that but I don't want to look like its a after market part which is just stuck on.

In hindsight I should have added them to the car when it was being built.

Yeah stuck on is naff, pretend structural carbon. Oh sorry were talking about tread plates!?! And as though people actually car. The only way to make them better is illuminated ones which is typically a fraction of those prices.

They cost even more, I am just going to have a look while my car is in for some warranty work in a few weeks time. What I do find amusing is the OPC is quoting 3 hours labour to fit them as its not just the still its a complete replacement unit. I am also at the PEC in 2 weeks time as well, so they will have some there as the cars on display are always very well spec'ed. I know its a lot of money but I feel it completes the interior of the car.

It's not great news for new GT4 buyers. :(

Dear All

I am pleased to confirm that allocation for Cayman GT4 and 911 GT3 RS has now been released.

With this in mind, it is important to bring to your attention the following production restrictions:

Cayman GT4:

1) Club Sport Package (003) and Full Bucket Seats (P11) - both of these options are subject to an 8 week delay in relation to quota month

2) The following Exterior colours are on Order Stop and therefore not available to order and must choose an alternative colour:

Sapphire Blue (N1), Carmine Red (0L), Carrara White Metallic (2Y).

911 GT3 RS:

Unfortunately, the factory have announced a longer production process in the start up phase of this model. As a consequence vehicle's could be delayed by up to four weeks in relation to quota month.

Full Bucket Seats (P11) are subject to an 8 week delay in relation to quota month.

Please forward this to your sales team.

Apologies for any inconvenience these changes in production may cause"

These are my door stills which I am looking at options

I have been looking out for a 997.1 S for a while now and have seen this at a good price: http://www.thecarmill.co.uk/used-PORSCHE-911-Blackburn-Lancashire-596610

It has all the options I am looking for (manual, sports chrono, PSE, adaptive seats, nav) and is just down the road from Hartech who I plan to call early next week to see if they will perform a pre purchase and bore scoring inspection. Is there anything that I am not seeing with this car or a reason to avoid even with the proper pre purchase checks?

Looks pretty good to me, quite a bit of mileage though so check for stuff like clutch has being done.

Before you pay for Hartechs time go and view it and get them to start it from cold and watch the exhaust pipes and if smoke comes from only one side for some time then it's got bore scoring.

As it's got no additional cooling and done 75k miles I'd be expecting there to be some scoring, could also be why it's cheap.

....so, did the 918 thing, not sure anyone wants to know about though....do they :)

ok go on tell us more.

I took a i8 out for 4 hours some time back and did not like it at all, just way too slow when going from 60 to 100 but it was very nice around town.

Spec is good, it does look very tired but its a old car with high miles.

On your point of additional cooling, if you looked at a 996 C4S with the addtional turbo radiators, would this make a difference? I'm going to look at a C4S today, but from a very reputable specialist.

Any additional cooling is a good thing, scoring comes from a flaw in the cooling design of the engine, improve the cooling system and reduce chances of scoring. :)

I didn't get out in the 918, I'm sure I will do in due course but myself and a group of friends and associates took a drive to Brooklands yesterday and I got a good chance to nose around some proper metal (4 F40's, Aventador, 918, I8 and legions of Strads, Scuds, GT3's, GT2's etc). The 918 was beautiful to behold, the carbon fibre work is incredible and it really is a tech tour de force, though interestingly the owner prefers his CGT.
