Posing at concerts

Go to ska gigs instead, everyone's dancing their norks off :D

yeah, but they're listening to ska!

Disclaimer: I actually love a bit of Ska, but that was quite a nice set up there.

Fair point. Although at a recent RX Bandits concert there were a disturbing number of the aforementioned Emu's. Now I know that they aren't strictly ska, but you must see that your beloved ska may also be at risk. ;)

Are Coheed really emu and not just a progressive rock band? Admittedly the concept is based on Claudio's relationship with his now ex-girlfriend, but the lyrics tend to be a bit more than your usual emu "I split up with my girlfriend and feel suicide would be fun" lyrics.

Coheed are so not an emo band. And I thought the concept and lyrical content was some crazy storyboard comic strip gay thing (which I was handed at one of the gigs, and was like "wtf meight"), although if it's a crazy storyboard comic strip gay thing based around his ex, then maybe it qualifies. But I was understand the impression there was more depth to it than that.

everything is at risk, just punch them in the ovaries! oh wait, that'll be just being like them...

how about we get gay to stop more of them being around.... nope, still ending up being like them (noticed how many scene kids say their bi-sexual?)

there is no stopping them :(

Luckily for me, drum n bass and jazz are fairly safe bets for no converse-wearing, backpack-toting, floppy-haired, The Academy Is...-tshirt fags. Long live the Jazz club and the rave!

I don't consider Coheed and Cambria emo tbh.

I thought emo were bands such as Mohinder?

We're talking faux-emo. We've had the emo discussion infinity times (just had Napoleon in my head "I already made like infinity of those at scout camp!"), and yes Mohinder is so very very emo (sometimes he cries to me on MSN), but we aren't talking Rites of Spring/Mohinder stuff here. We're talking MCR/TBS.

It is a science fiction story based loosely around his relationship with his ex. Most of their recent album shows how things in his life moulded the happenings in the story.

It's music, not a ******* open-mic poetry night.

Hah, they'll just get pushed to the back or join in when they see everyone else with legs and limbs kicking out all over the place! The last gig I went to (Toasters) had the Scrub and one emo band supporting them, bless 'em they can't have been older than about 15, the music was good, the singing was horrendous...
...they tentatively sneaked back in for the Toasters gig, and at first looked a little uncomfortable in their super-tight jeans, converse/winklepicker shoes and crazy hair... but before long they were in the thick of it having a massively good time :D

coheed so are emo dude. i'll spend all day disagreeing with everything you say if i have to. they're definitely emo. you're just confused because they're good, too.

i like the sound of that storyboard thing...although the subject sounds a bit ghey (myspace spelling for the theme). what are we talking about now?

edit: Charlotte was telling me about a session Fallout Boy did on Radio 1, that they're constantly mocking at the moment because the guy can't sing.

could emo be prog with emotional poets who can't sing behind the mic? are we getting close to defining emo?

That's a bit narrow-minded of you and unfortunately somewhat devalues your musical opinions. I say we disregard all of penski's opinions in music related threads from now on... ;)

if we try that, he'll just write them bigger, and more frequently. and he'll probably come to our houses and write his posts on our car doors with a compass.

Haha! Good point. Ok... we'll just pretend to go along with him instead then. The "storyboard" is actually a graphic novel which tells the story behind the latest album. There are also 2 comics which go with the first few songs from second stage turbine blade.

Ah yes. The magazine that gave a full page and a half to the review of Angels and Airwaves, and subsequently gave it four out of five stars this week.

Yep, I blame them too :(

That was my sis who wrote that! She said the album was crap and would have given it 2 but reviews are all about favours and support, hardly ever about real quality (live and album). Dont blame Kerrang for the scene, blame the weak minded moron kids produced every year that need a scene to cling on to.
