I was thinking of purchasing around that myself.

The similar performance to a 295x2 from a single card is exciting as you'll get all the performance and not be relying on drivers or dev teams to get CF working/scaling well. I was thinking of putting an AIO on my TX but now I think I'll wait it out and buy the 390x if it is indeed that fast.

Anyone investing in shares before this release?

I've been looking into it, currently 2.30 a share.

Risky, I wouldn't be investing on what AMD are bring to the party in terms of descrete GPU's. Have you seen the news on 'Zen' CPU architecture? 40% IPC improvement over Evacutor (50% over Piledriver) plus Finfet on 14nm! If that turns out to be true AMD will be right back in the game and we can finally have some competition.

I would say AMD are worth a £500 punt right about now (obviously depending on what you can afford of course, I wouldn't want to lose £500 but then again I won't be trouble if I did, IMO it's worth the risk above what I get in a bank).

The single-GPU card could offer performance comparable to the dual-GPU R9 295X2, which is faster than the GeForce GTX TITAN-X. AMD CEO Lisa Su, speaking at the Investor Day event, in New York, on 6th May, hinted that the product could launch on the sidelines of Computex 2015 (early June)."

THIS IS WHAT WE ARE WAITING FOR!

That's awesome, Computex kicks off on June 2nd.

Yeah it wasn't solely on what they're doing just with GPU's, I had read about Zen as well. Of course there's always a risk but AMD would practically have to go out of business for shares to drop to a level where I'd take a large loss.

Although saving space will be good, not to sure i will like the look of smaller cards. I prefer the look of a card that covers the motherboard, will still be buying but might have to get the air-cooled rather than the AIO.

Also if they are saving that much room, could they not put more HBM on or would that up the price?

Using the now-gone 2nd half of the PCB to add another interposer with more HBM stacks would not work I think.

The stacks have to be equidistant to the GPU just like GDDR5 for a start.

Look at it this way AMD just halved their copper costs. :D

Not sure if this has been posted already:

I think this is going to be faster than the Titan X. Yep I think they have done it..

Also for those that don't like water AIO.

AMD's upcoming Radeon R9 390X graphics cards will ship in two SKUs - an air-cooled one, with a moderately long reference design board (though not as long as the R9 290X), and a new Water-Cooled Edition (WCE) SKU, which will feature a very compact PCB - one that could be no bigger than that of the GeForce GTX 970 reference.

Price prediction ... 800ish ? :D

It's going to be pricey if it beats the TX.

Some are saying the top card won't have a normal 3XX moniker, but rather something like Zeus etc to rival Titan in performance / price / separate naming.

I think the naming is anyone's guess atm.

With 4000+ updated GCN cores and 128ROPS with HBM, I think this may beat the TX by quite a margin.

I just don't know if I want to bother switching. Hassle of selling my card etc. Oh well I may just give my Titan X to my boys and grab 390X air cooled for my Mini-ITX..

Presumably the longer air cooled card will just have an extended part of the pcb thats blank to accommodate the heatsink.

Also this was just posted on hardocp forum.

That is one very weird looking little card. Just looks like someone has made their own estimate to how the card looks based on the render from yesterday and made a side on pic.

Or custom PCB from the vendors.

I'll go air cooled just because my Mini-ITX can only fit one radiator.

If that spec is legit this is a day one purchase for me.

The bar is going to be raised on both teams now, Nvidia set it high with Titan X performance. Next few years should be awesome for hardware nerds, and expensive :o

Can you imagine when Nvidia get hold of HBM 2, and a die shrink..
