+1

nVidia are a little slimy for my tastes, but I just wanted a system that worked without any hassles (and games that do at launch!!) and I'm afraid to say but the 980's do this for me :)

True. If you go multiple cards it is a well known fact SLI performs better. Did you actually have any issues when on a single card?

I may be forced to give crossfire a go if 390X is too expensive. Never tried it before as I knew it had issues. I think it would do the job until 16nm cards come out in a years time.

No it isn't considering the majority of complaints in the AMD driver thread is from yes you guessed it, AMD users... and yes a lot of them are complaining about stuff that isn't even driver related. Another case of you thinking AMD users = angels, nVidia users = devils children.

No, I'm saying the people who go over every single thread in this section banging on and on about driver problems is a fairly obvious group of Nvidia users. The AMD users have some issues, SO DO NVIDIA USERS. However as you said, they are talking in the AMD driver thread, there are legitimate problems, help from other AMD users.

In this thread and literally hundreds of others in the past 6 months it's Nvidia guys who run around screaming about bad drivers in every single damn thread.

They wouldn't be NVidia users if they were satisfied with AMD's drivers though, there must be a reason that people are willing to pay upwards of 200% for NVidia hardware? why is AMD's market share so poor at a time when their GPU's are incredible value for money?

Does anyone else get really bored of this driver conversation? We all know of the crossfire/freesync problems why is it always repeated?

For a single card user AMD seem to have it sussed, very happy :)

I can't wait for the bloody thing to come out, i want to be able to enjoy reading in this sub-section again!

Only issue is that these top end cards are essential for 4k and you need two because one simply isn't fast enough.

I know that SLI and CFX users are comparatively low on the end user scale but we do exist. Both Nvidia and AMD have done a solid job of selling their technologies over the years and to that ends they should at least try and ensure they bloody work.

Not sell that technology broken for years until some one caught them out.

That £300 I spent on ATI cards was a complete waste.

Honestly I'm still very annoyed about that. Woe betide them had I dumped £600 or more on two of the high end cards.

Ati made some really weird claims about crossfire when they were bringing it to market. The main one being that crossfire didn't require any profiles, which later turned out to be bs. :o

This is the issue. Maybe they will have improvements for it with the new cards.

it's just the drivers that let down crossfire tbh the hardware is fine.....

put aside the crossfire issue in some games..... my point was i can't see how the 390x be near / on pair with a 295x

My only nightmare was 5850x2 and 6950x2 **** 2 card setups.... NEVER AGAIN i like to play games day one...

gareth170 I tell you how. Games comes out no Xfire profile and it runs on one core of that 295x thats how. And then you wait for weeks to get broken xfire driver that fixes that game but ones that worked dont work like they did.
Can people with multiple cards say im wrong ??

Can't say I have had any issues tbh.. If the profile isn't there i force AFR friendly mode works very well for me.. Farcry 4 was one game though I needed to disable msaa or smaa was it.

The game/s with no profile elite dangerous I don't play anyway, not saying this is a good thing and I can see why the guys who do play that would be mad.
But my point is not all us are effected, my crossfire experience has been enjoyable.

I'm using the crossfire setup for the 1st time and haven't had any major problems apart from no decent crossfire in watchdogs or dying light when it was released. So far everything I've tried works great as long as there is a profile.

GTA V is running a 70-80 fps average so can't complain.

tbh i don't have issues with the profiles once they've been added also you can force crossfire on games that don't have a profile.. the only issue is the time it takes amd to release updates....

but still your missing the point, i said put aside the crossfire issue in some games..... i don't think the 390x will be near / on pair with a 295x in games that have crossfire.. it may be about 20-30% slower than the 295x2. which would make the 390x about 70%~ faster than a 290x

people are hoping for to much,

yes you deffo need to build for 4K, because they're phasing out 1080p TV far quicker than i thought........ from now on you can only get a top end tv if it's 4K :eek:

it's frightening how quickly it's all moving on, because now i need another Titan X
