Looking at the results from witcher3 benches, I really hope AMD also improves their tesselation for Fiji. Just adding more shaders and HBW will make card unbalanced.

Why so many low end cards? Aren't half of those less powerful than the graphics on an APU?

Also why would anybody buy a Hawaii rebrand in Q2 2015? Unless they like heat, noise and awful power consumption.

I hope this is all nonsense. AMD's rebranding merry-go-round sucks balls. They're worse than nV these days for doing it.

Because it would absolutely stuff the 980 at high res. or in VR, probably for less money.

Maybe because if its not a ref cooler then theres no heat and noise? The awful power consumption is ~ 780Ti, TX territory.

It all depends on pricing, but the lower down models (Reworked Hawaii) coming with 8GB as standard and better clocks, will offer a good alternative to the GTX 970 3.5GB and GTX 980 4GB. With the high end AMD cards with HBM targeting the GTX 980 Ti and Titan X.

I think this looks pretty promising tbh, it will all come down to pricing.

I don't think Nvidia would want to continue selling nearly a year old 4GB GTX 970 and 980 cards when AMD launch rebranded Hawaii with 8GB and higher clock as standard. Nvidia had test samples of 8GB GM204 cards in April 2014, I thought Nvidia would launched 8GB versions back in November 2014 so Nvidia probably saved it for upcoming GTX 970 and 980 refresh that would launch in September 2015 made sense.

Fiji gets all the upgrades Tonga has, and it smashes hawaii in tesselation.

Debut June 3rd Computex

AMD Introducing 300 Series And Carrizo Lineup On June 3rd At Computex – “Comprehensive Details” To Be Revealed

AMD would like to cordially invite you to our press conference at Computex 2015. You will get the opportunity to see AMD’s latest products and leading-edge technologies, while experiencing immersive visual, computing, and gaming demonstrations.
During this event, AMD executives and special guests will be introducing new, comprehensive details on AMD’s 2015 product lineup.

This is AMD’s statement which was issued to announce the event and invite the press to attend. We believe that AMD will focus primarily on its Carrizo and R 300 series products. “Comprehensive details” means that we expect to get actual product specifications and nomenclature. Which should put a definitive end to the on-going speculation once and for all.

Cool, sooner than expected (that must be a first for AMD :p), all we need now is to see exactly what 'Comprehensive details' actually entails.
Hopefully it will be full specs and benchmarks.

Performance is good and all, but the most important is the value for money. If we get slightly better than 290X performance costing more than the 970... then sorry AMD, but I'll stick with my plans to get a 970 instead.

And someone also brought up the question of the heavy saturation of low end cards. I don't get why they exist (in such unnecessary variety). Nobody in their right mind would get anything less than a 960/R9 270X right now. Also, just one or 2 cards below the £100 price point will do. With the likes of APU and Iris pro, who'd spend just £50 on a graphics card?

If AMD want to win at the lower end, they need to beat the 960 at a max price of £150. The 280X currently can do better than 960, but at a £200 price tag. My younger brother was going to buy a 960, but I told him to wait till this bunch releases. I hope my suggestion isn't wasting his time.

So... long story short, the way forward is to beat current cards in price/performance. That's how it's kinda always been (or at least should be). A few years back the 560ti was ~£175. Nowadays one can get a 960 for £150 which performs miles better. The way it should be.

Edit: The 960 also appears to beat a 780 according to Witcher 3 benchmarks. Just adding to the pile :P
