Nvidia already have their version of this out in the form of the Titan X and 980Ti. This is AMD's response.

I don't know why people are getting that excited about the specs. The 290x out specs the 980 GTX (see below) but we all know that does not translate so well into gaming performance.

Better floating-point performance
5,632 GFLOPS vs 4,616 GFLOPS More than 20% better floating-point performance

Significantly wider memory bus
512 bit vs 256 bit 2x wider memory bus

More shading units
2,816 vs 2,048 768 more shading units

More texture mapping units
176 vs 128 48 more texture mapping units

What you're comparing there is the 290X a near 2 year old design (GCN 1.0) VS Nvidia's latest architecture (Maxwell). It's not just the spec but the architecture used as well, comes with inherent improvements.

I.e new generation Maxwell cores VS GCN 1.0. Even then the near 2 year old 290X does pretty well against the GTX 980 especially at higher res.

So with Fiji and the new architecture not only do you have better spec in every metric (Except volume of memory) but also GCN 1.2 'newer architecture'.

Expect it to be quite a leap. Whether it can beat Titan X we will find out very soon. My money is on 10% - 15% faster than Titan X in all but Gameworks titles.

It's a huge jump from the 290x so the relative performance will we'll be exceptionally good, putting it anove the Titan X.

That sort of comparison doesn't mean too much. Just looking within Nvidia products take Maxwell vs kepler, look at the flops and shaders, GM200 barely out flopping GK110 but better extracting better gaming performance. Imagine those few figures in a pre release leak and what would be incorrectly deduced about Titan X performance against Titan black/780ti.

Hoping to keep within power limits they are conservative with clocks and we can unleash the beast when over locking lol. 290X was never a great overclocker.

As always impressive raw specs from AMD. Will have to see how that translates into real world gaming performance. I wouldn't be surprised if it was only on par with the Titan X despite the numbers.

Its such a shame crossfire is so lacklustre. I see no reason to change from a 980 Ti SLI even if the Fury X is better than a 980 Ti at the same price.

10-15%?

Was this just crazy hyperbole then?

Basically it has grunt like nothing we've ever seen. If you're a PC enthusiast you should be a lil excited. This card is a monster. Only the most biased could be pessimistic about this card if that spec is legit. This is a proper advancement. Looking forward to this and Nvidia's response, although that's likely a year away..

:p

I cant see it being much faster than the titan x or 980ti. It usnt going to be some massive advancement.

The only interesting thing will be the price.

I don't understand what you mean here? Do you mean that 10% - 15% faster than a Titan X isn't a fast card by your standards?

Well if AMD pull that off I will be very impressed. Looking forward to the E3 reveal, if they deliver in performance I will pick one up.

If AMD don't deliver, I've already got a Titan X :D:p
