If benchmarks are to be believed it has around a 300 watt TDP which is only 50 more than the 980ti.

Although I doubt they take the AIO into account, which could add around 50 more.

You're warmer, add a couple on to that.

How do you come to that conclusion? It only has two 8 pin PCI-e power connectors with a max of 375 watt envelope and it's been said same envelope power wise as 290x. So where do u keep getting those crazy conclusions from silent?

Why do you keep mentioning this as if it's a hard limit? It's really frustrating when you're poking facts at me with a proveribal rod when you don't even understand what you are saying. This max limit is a theoretical limit imposed years ago. It doesn't mean a thing.

Just like you keep saying "it's been said", yet when I mention something that might not be to your liking it just can't be true. I don't recall saying it was over 375w anyway. It just happens to be pretty near it.

You obviously never overclocked Hawaii if you're struggling to come to terms with this.

300w is a lot still all my 290xs worked around 75-80C on air, and i could oc them well 3/3 above 1200.
AIO comes in play -> ocheadroom goes up.

I can totally imagine that they are fit in the 300w at stock, but with the 2x8 pin and AIO you can oc it very well.

300 watts is a lot and worse still with the HBM chips packed around the core it is a bit toasty even before you start thinking about overclocking.

The AIO setup won't use much more power than an air cooled setup either. The D5 pumps on my custom loop only use 37 watts when absolutely flat out.

Your right it won't add as much as I thought but it will definitely add some. And yeah I doubt these will OC anywhere near Maxwell levels.

BTW i find it interesting how opinions turn for some people...

When news came on the HBM many people was: "ah it can't be that power efficient..vram is only using a little bit of power.....amd is stupid"
Now: "Ah if its 300W with HBM its crap, because HBM uses a lot less power, so the chip is surely crap...amd is stupid"

Titan X release: "AHHH the performance awww (wetting panties)..power consumption is not that important yes its the same as a 290X but look at the performance wooo...amd is doomed"
Fury X matches the Titan X: " Eehhhh this is kinda ok ish..but not great...and it is not power efficient...it will be hot...ams is doomed..."

AMD is way behind Nvidia when it comes to performance per watt. Its disappointing that this is still likely to be the case. Would prefer AMD made some ground in this department.

My original Titan (8 and 6 pin connector) could draw over 450w when OC'd - go figure. :)

Well at least I can state facts about the fury card ur just stating stuff pulled from thin air. Also don't put me in the same boat as the ppl who keep posting positive articles and defending negative please as I've not been doing this just stating what I believe to be true from logical assumptions. You on the other hand have been assuming stuff from what I can tell from thin air. Oh a 1600 watts psu will cripple with three of these? Okay can't wait to see real power consumption now. Also when there is negative articles you seem to jump on these rather than positive so dont paint me in a picture mr when you painted your self in one first.

Who said power consumption isn't important? Pull the other one!

It's what made GM204 great when in MPGU configurations, and GM200 a like. Nobody wants to go back to heat boxes. These things are going to pack a lot of it.

lol that's funny because I didn't think it was out yet. I have my sources, you don't have to believe it you can find out for yourself. I would highly recommend you read up on what enthusiasts and overclockers alike have pulled through 8 pin connectors. From what you're spouting at me you might be in for a huge shock, and it's a little transparent that you don't follow that scene as a result.

No not at all, I am just being honest in how I see it.

I will be buying the Fury, will you.

What I do find small minded in these sort of threads is people who want one brand to beat another brand without giving it any logical reasoning.

The logical reasoning for wanting amd ati to do better is because nvidia massively profit gouged this generation. And they lied to reviewers and customers re the 970. If AMD doesn't beat them, then nvidia will surely do this againin the next ggeneration.

I'll never understand bickering, personal insults, division, fan boyism and the general non ability to form differing opinions without any of the above - over a piece of plastic and silicone that hasn't even been released. Never :(
