Going against a TX or TI clocked @ 1400mhz is going to be pretty hard. Most can clock up to 1400mhz without adding volts (which means roughly around 275w).

With the AIO AMD are trying to avoid the "it will burn down your house" issues but will also need to be clocked relatively high out of the box to provide good numbers on the benchmarks (as they are done usually on stock clocks).

2x8 pin has never been done on a reference card of what I recall meaning we are looking at 325w+ when overclocking on stock volts.

This is all my own speculation so take it with a grain of salt.

How the air cooled version fits in your theory?

Lower clocks ofcourse, but will be released after the benchies for the X (watercooled version whatever it's called) will be out.

They need to show some crazy performance while keeping low temps. Fury X reviews first than the Fury, makes no sense otherwise.

I doubt they want the ref R9-290X cooler trolling again.

The specs state 1050mhz for air >=1050 for water cooled version. So i think the air is the base the water is the OC ME edition.

Random question:

Have AMD actually shown any picture/data that confirms the retail card will have 2x8pin? Or has this all been taken for granted from leaked pictures of prototypes, which also have an industrial 3000RPM+ fan on their radiator?

I suspect this will be expensive, hot, power hungry and probably not much faster than a 980TI.

I hope i am wrong as we need some good competition.

If it's as fast or slightly faster than a 3 week old 980ti that's good right? Or are some people expecting it to be over 40% faster than Nvidias latest cards?

It's the price that will determine how successful the new AMD cards will be. If on the same level as a 980ti then they have to be cheaper otherwise most will go for the Nvidia card.

On par at £80-100 cheaper should be fine if 4GB HBM

We know nothing, it's all leaks and rumours that don't add up when taken together, so some might be right and some might not.

What's weird is seeing the cycle of

"it's going to spank the TX"
"might compete with the Ti"
"it's going to be crap"
"going to run so hot, a radiator is evidence, buy a new huge PSU and put a coil in your back garden to cool it all"
"it's not got enough ram"
"it needs to be cheaper"
"it needs to be the same price"
"AMD are finished if X, Y or Z"

In a few days they'll tell us everything, well start getting benchmarks and the random tales from the butt can stop in favour of some facts and then the inevitable mocking red or green.
