I can only assume that with the HBM on the same interposer they will place the whole lot under a heat spreader and with the size of these last gasp 28nm chips these things will be huge. I expect a bit of a redesign for the actual metal work in this type cooler but the shrouds should be very similar.
Those Vapour X ones do look good but they are pretty huge to be honest.

screw those coolers, :)

If it any cheap reference cards + full EK water blocks then i wont buy as this is the only way i roll :)
after going full custom water cooling i will never ever ever go back to air :)

Yes but custom water is also a big expence and Herts resale , some would rather have a good card at a slight premium and have an easy sale at the end for the extra 5% extra performance and a bit of silence.

I'm sure if your able to fit a waterblock your capable of refitting the stock cooler for resale.....

A nice reference cooler from amd would be nice for a change, i don't know if they got some kind of bulk deal on those red fans but they've been a staple of the cards for years now and more often than not when you see them you immediately know "noisy".

They really need to try harder in that regard as noise has been an issue back as far as the x1800xt series, its come and gone in varying degrees but they never seem to put much effort in on the stock cooler front.

AMD Preparing “New Graphics Launches Later This Quarter”

While that may sound like a generic statement, it’s actually quite significant. As it gives us a clear indication of when AMD intends announce its upcoming R9 300 series graphics cards. The R9 300 series and the R9 390X specifically have been subject of many rumors. One in particular however may turn out to be quite accurate.

If Lisa Su goes to the toilet, Wccftech will write about it :p

I wish sites like Wccftech would stop throwing around specs which are almost definitely not accurate like the ones below.

MaMFvDG.jpg

But having said that I hope they realise that the 290X has 37.5% more stream processors than the 980 yet in most situations the NVidia card is faster.

The 390X has 33.3% more stream processors than the TitanX in that table now it does not take a maths genius to see where this is going ...........

More rubbish from Wccftech lol.

^^ Agreed.

Unfortunately rumor is all we have for AMD atm, hence the 'possible' in the thread title.

Hopefully AMD will get around to launching some new hardware soon. Meanwhile Nvidia is killing it in sales..

Doesn't work like that tho Kaap :)

The 285 has a 256Bit Bus and 15% less Stream processors than the 280X and its clocked 8% lower, yet is some games its as fast or faster, one or two its as much as 10% faster. in one or two others its no faster than a 280.

Tonga actually adds about 20% overall to the performance.

The 380X will probably be a Tonga revision 290X putting it roughly around a 980.

i think you meant the 390X, if so it's not worth having then

I know what he meant :) you can't add Shaders on top of the 290X to come up with its performance, the 290x is GCN 1.2, Tonga is GCN 1.3 and has about 20% higher performance.

A GCN 1.3 290X would be around 980 performance, so GCN 1.3 390X with 4096 Shaders (+45% Shaders) would be whatever that results in +20%.

That's assuming GCN 1.3, there could be a GCN 1.4 with even more performance on the way, we just don't know but what we shouldn't do is calculate it based of shaders performance that has already been superseded.

I don't think there is anyway that we will be getting a 390x that matches or beats the Titan, as much as i would love this to happen, it's not. Then the price will show the difference.

I'm still getting one because it should be faster than a 980 and I can't afford the TX :(
