I didn't realise GD posts didn't count anymore. Quite disappointed to see that change brought in, I get it from a technical perspective but this forum's heart and soul is in GD.

It’s just such a weird decision to just stop post count for GD. It literally makes no sense when you can just post anywhere else to get your count up. Also, it’s far easier to keep on top of spam if it’s in one place with lots of mods to keep a check rather than spread all over the entire forum in less moderated forums.

I feel it’s a knee jerk reaction from the mods and they haven’t really sat down and thought it through.

Grow up children, guess what you are a user here, you follow rules, others set them. very much like how goalposts change in number of other industries and academics, it happens, grow with it or just be bitter and get left behind.

I am fine with GD not adding to the numbers even though over a quarter of my posts come from it, its full of ***** jokes, moaners, questionable individual views and frankly some ******'s who are just there to stir a pot or to make themselves appear ready for the special olympics, I would not say you are a contributing member if you are just focusing on GD and getting peoples backs up.

@robfosters As someone with 50000+ posts, why does it matter so much to you? Or is it your identity on here is attached to your post count?

Clam down, I missed off the emoji I am as surprised as you are that so many people care about their count. A bunch of counts.

Nah, these things are never unilateral, they can be close to it but never based on one person. It isn't exactly the end of the world (eg: adgate) but just a bit disappointing imo. Oh well never mind move on!

Numbers are important business and getting the count right has to be perfect, just ask Mr Trump
I suspect my post count is going to go up about 20 a year from now on if I am lucky, let me just go off and cry for 19 days quickly...
