You have directly reduced the chances of people not being able to get access to the MM because you no longer get a post when you place one in GD, what other reason was it removed?

Did it actually get communicated to the community?

Of course they are. Far too much garbage posted here as it is they don't need rando's turning up posting even more just to gain access to restricted subforums. Dedicated forums you at least need to be invested or at the very least put in a bit of effort.

It's still a contribution. The amount of times I have seen mods suggest if you don't contribute you don't get access and now your removing the ability to even contribute, because people are not going to bother anymore. The forum is going to die a death if you carry on. I like GD and mainly post in this section. If it's a meme or anything it's still contributing to the community.

Anyway, why wasn't this communicated because that would be the right thing to do and people could have discussed now you all look like party poopers and it just looks bad.

I said I wouldn't post anymore but as it appears that this has blown up I felt I should comment. I raised this in the sub forums some weeks ago and specifically asked what had happened to the posts in GD and which forums now do count towards it. All the mods in that thread were deliberately evasive and refused to give a straight answer and it would appear that they are happy to die on that hill. It's all starting to make sense now.

If you're going to change how the post counts are tallied at least have the stones to clearly state the changes being made. Maybe you wouldn't have this thread right now if you had been more transparent about the whole thing in the first place.

Indeed, I’ve seen some great threads in here about subjects such as space threads, mortgage rise thread, images I’ve purchased, Ukraine thread, cost of living thread, the list goes on.

To say these are not contributing to the forum but posting your dinner or celebrating a goal is, is utterly bizarre.
 
Just turn post count off for every forum and don't let anyone else into the MM

That is essentially what you want to do anyway right?

Although I fail to see you don't want community members to have access to a sale forum, it promotes the forum.

The fact it wasnt communicated makes the whole thing very suspicious
