I've never gone into the football thread but if the level of chat is people posting "Goalllll" then that too should have post count increment suspended.

Because ATI ATI ATI posts would get deleted. It would never get deleted in a footy thread. It's running commentary and wouldn't be considered spam. I thought that was pretty obvious.

Then why disable the post count? There's nothing unique about the posts in here, you're just attempting to discourage people from posting in this section.

My proposal is that every time somebody posts in GD it has a random chance of either increasing or decreasing post count 50/50 so that on average it doesn't add any post count. Once a month change it so that the rule is "double or nothing".

It's not just disabled in GD though.
Your post prompted me to check the other forum I browse. You can find it if you visit the members profile but it is surrounded by other stats, (some of which are more interesting). So it doesn't stand out. Maybe the mods can add them in to replace post count

I usually post more in GD when I've had a few so wouldn't necessarily know how many posts I had anyway.

But still infinitely more value than Twitter or Reddit.
Well, that was until GD became a place where people just post Twitter links and zero commentary.
Has anyone advanced a reason for the change? For me it was useful as a general gauge of how much time I've wasted, here
Post count was more a notice of how institutionalised a poster was, not their e-peen

Knee jerk reaction? Quite the opposite, we actually discuss everything as a team - even the smallest of changes.
I really don't get why it's such an issue for you when it makes no difference to you directly.
This has to be down to the requirements of the MM, I don't see why a post shouldn't count in GD personally. The mods bang on about contribution to the forum then remove GD posts clocking up your tally?

Does seem a bit redundant why have a post count if it doesn't count posts?
Hide it and have members market counting in the back ground or on your bio, hidden away.
I do most of my dribbling in GD because its my link to some UK news and a taste of what's happening back in Blighty.
Films and movies too i guess and that section is great with some good thinkers in it.
But yeah whatever..... Ill never get to 30k now lolz
