When we realised what Salmonella was ;)

The odds of getting a salmonella infected egg are phenomenally low. If you buy quality eggs from well kept hens the risk is virtually nil.

Digestion of raw egg isn't great (I believe the yolk is fine raw but the white isn't absorbed too well). I'll happy down raw egg though if I happen to have some leftover from a recipe or accidentally crack an egg.

Anyone who tells you not to eat egg yolks is a fool.

nothing wrong with egg yolks. ok if your going ot have loads every day then its not the best, however, having a few full eggs is a good thing.

Doesn't most of the protein come from the yolk anyway? Like Morba said, if you have a few then it's not a problem. If you're having 4 everyday then maybe it is...

It's roughly a 50/50 split between the yolk and white however all of the vits and minerals are in the yolk, in quality eggs there's also plenty of omega 3 (by quality I mean decent free range not that overpriced columbus rubbish).

I highly doubt you'll find a person who's suffered in any way from eating four or more eggs per day, there's simply nothing harmful about eggs.

Lots of things contain cholesterol - sea food, offal, human breast milk - all good stuff that people have been consuming in abundance for years. After a good workout I certainly wouldn't say no to some liver and prawns washed down with some titty milk :)

Thanks for that Goatboy. I usually eat 5-6 eggs a week, may start having more though. Liver? No thanks. Prawns? No way! Titty milk? ... ;)

Liver is good stuff, jam packed with vitamins and protein and most importantly dirt cheap. Prawns and mussels are just tasty even though they're not amazing nutritionally.
Breast milk, I did ask a female friend but she just thought it was weird and wouldn't let me try any - clearly it's the best weight gain drink in the world though, I must have gained 50lbs on it.

Whey Concentrate 80 (Euro) is your best bet. I suggest getting it unflavoured see if you can drink it in water, it's got a very neutral flavour to it. If you don't like it then you can always add Nesquik to it or similar.

You can get a 5lb bag for £14.99 from this page and they also sell empty tubs. 5lb should last you quite a while, it's roughly 75 servings.

Use the code MP5500 for a further 5% off your first order;)

EDIT - It's possible to get 10lb for £23 using the price matcher but it's a huge tub. I doubt you'd need so much.

Okay ive ordered from this site using that code ....what do you get ?;p

lol, thanks again. what do you think of 2 boiled eggs as a snack before bed? Trying to sort my diet and think it's too high in carbs and too low in protein lol (sorry for hijacking the thread!)...

^^^ Good choice;)

I'll usually have something like:
Omelette with cheese & glass milk with 1 scoop whey or,
Omelette with tuna & glass of milk with 1 scoop whey and tbl spoon olive oil or,
2 boiled eggs cut in half and mayonnaise spread on them & glass of milk with 1 scoop of whey.

Great way of getting a full spectrum of amino acids from different protein sources and also the fats bump up the calories and slow down digestion, as does the milk, ideal before bed if you're looking to gain muscle. Good sources of EFA's aswell :)

Thanks Chong(?), I'm looking to lose the flab at the moment - guessing I'm around 25%+ BF, so trying to keep fat around 40-50g and include more protein. Still stuck on carbs though lol. Hows your training coming along?

40g of fat a day isn't very much mate, especially for someone hitting the gym. Try and lose your calories more from your carbs and the carbs you do eat make them complex/ low G.I. I'm sure you already know that but just be wary of dropping your fat intake too low.

I'm still on the comeback as regards to my training thanks for asking. My back is still giving me trouble and I'm unsure wether it's a time to back off or grit the teeth and try and blast through the pain.

Haven't missed a session since I started again about 3-4 weeks ago and managed some 100kg squats last night without a belt :) but I'm in pain today :(

Doh!

Any recommendations on how much fat then? The way I do it is on training days I increase Protein, Carbs and fat and on 'off' days I try limit carbs and fat. To be honest, even though I said 40-50g fat, on some days I think I don't even get anywhere near that!

Started using flax powder now as well.

I would avoid egg yolk because of the fat (specifically cholesterol) content.

Thanks mate.

I still recommend not eating egg yolks because of the fat / cholesterol.

I would source my omega 3's from fish or supplements, and try and stick to as little fat as possible. I personally aim for ~20g a day.

Just because people have been consuming them for years does not mean that they are healthy. (I'm not saying these things aren't, just that historical usage has no relevance to health benefits / drawbacks).

I would also not recommend eating organs because of the iron content. Avoid supplements containing iron too. (Iron can interefere with the HDL/LDL pathways to increase the ration of LDL:HDL = bad).
