Yeah, I used to have spare wheels for trackdays, but that's not such a good option since I switched to the dymags

I'd either have to spend a mint, or run the heavy wheels on track, which makes no sense. So I learned to change tyres instead, worked out really well. (I just wore out a Strada set, 6000 miles on my bike, cost me £15 on ebay

)

I remember this shot, I went abit to wide and fast so just layed the bike down, bit lower than I thought, had to bring my knee in lol

Drop your inside shoulder in mate! You're doing all the hard work then moving your body back towards the middle of the bike, from the looks of the pics. Looks like you were going some though!

I'm no riding god, but I had to really think a lot about riding position after I broke my hip, because I can't hang off any more- but I can achieve most now with the torso than I did before with my entire body, when I work at it... I think before my accident I would have looked almost exactly like you, only with a bit less speed.

Yea few of the club racer I know said straight away, Get over the tank you idiot

No wonder my arms were hurting so much after lol, this was my first TD where ive been able to go some for the whole day and it is damn tiring, I was the fastest in novice group and nobody overtook me whole day, so next time need to work on getting over the tank and relax more, make it look like an affort

Way I see it is you're doing the hard part, most people on track spend all their effort hanging off and none on actually going round corners, so obsessed with kneedown etc. Looks good, doesn't work

Whereas you're actually getting on with the going fast already, which is what a lot of folks never get round to.

I'm the opposite, I usually run in the slower half of intermediate but I just don't have the competitive urge to go faster any more, I think I'm getting better but slower every time :rolleyes:

But it's still a good laugh.

Yea its brilliant fun, have got both knee's down before and can do quite easily so didnt have to worry about that on the day, when i was on flying laps I hardly stuck my knees out only on the slower corners to make sure I wasnt going too low, just need to work on my upper body position now

Will be going inters from now on at TD's though, second ever TD and catching the back by middle of the second lap gets boring after a while when you realise you have another 40 odd bikes in front you need to get around, but its not a race as they say and still have great fun in that group, but gunna try my luck with some faster guys next time

Inters is the place to be, it's not always much faster but it's all about hte predictability- you're not always worrying about the guy in front/behind/beside you's about to do, because people are generally more experienced and controlled. Much better.

Well, it's been a year since I got the Fazer, and finally I get around to showing some pictures to the good bikers of OcUK

This was a trip to France over Easter. We were just outside La Rochelle and the sun was setting so it was great time for a picture!

The dirt of the bike once home:

A run up the Antrim Coast here in Northern Ireland = always great fun.

An obvious picture whore at the docks in Belfast....

Took a trip around the Highlands last week for 5 days, another great trip! The roads up there are just stunning and endlessly amazing!

Chicken strips reduced and tyre slightly blistering (I think...) as a result of those roads

I hope that's not too many pictures...

I know! I just don't want to spend £220 on the official yamaha one, and I haven't bothered looking around for the 3rd party ones.

Cheers and we had awesome fun! I'm telling you, the roads from Ullapool to Inverness are beyond amazing. I don't know if it's wise to tell the speed we were cornering at but I'm sure you can use your imagination...

Going down around Craner curves at 130MPH is quite a feeling, its very fast when you realise you are only doing an extra 15-20MPH down the actual straight!

Heres a bullet cam of a few laps:

Bullet cam is fisheyed tho so things do look a lot further away than they actually are but you get the idea.

Yea Craner curves are brilliant, overtaking on the outside and tucking in tight haha loved it

Yep, Skidmarx have one for £115 for my year, but they have no picture, and I'd rather know what bit of kit I would be getting.

We were very lucky, sunny and dry the whole day until 50miles down the road afterwards

I was quite nervous about crashing my bike for some reason, its the first time I've done a trackday on the SP1 and wasnt sure how the old fatty would handle it. Had always used the wifes 636 previously and never worried on much on hers

The SP1 was good, but I am much faster on the wifes 636. Better brakes, same power, 40kg less.

Had a little 'scare' late in the last session (which wasnt bleeming recording!) went into Redgate a lot faster than I should, tipped it in, knee down, knee up knee down, knee up, toe slider down. This is all common stuff on the wifes 636 with standard rear sets but it is physically impossible to get the pegs down on a narrow V-Twin with jacked up Harris rear sets, the exhaust actually sticks out about an inch or two further than the end of the pegs. Thats something I wouldn't want to try to often!

Angelsey looks nice but its way to far for me, its about 350 miles from me. We figured about 200-250miles is ideal distance.

Wife is doing Pembrey in a few weeks time too.
