Post your bikes thread

If it's fuel injected it should make a difference.. most bikes ship from factory running rich, the higher octane fuel will only lean this up a little but extract abit more from engine.

The correct technical term for this phenomenon is ‘knocking’, which happens when an engine:

a) Runs on fuel with an octane number that is too low, for the engine.

b) Runs too lean (air-fuel mixture is incorrect).

c) Has incorrect ignition timing.

The effects of (a) and (b) shouldn’t occur using Shell V-Power because it has a high octane number (98) and as a result of the high density of Shell V-Power, it tends to enrich the air-fuel mixture.

Shells web site say it will enrich the mixture not weaken it as your tuner suggested

Nice GPZ :)

Went and had a look and a sit on the new Aprillia RSV4 today, god its tiny! still want to have a go though :D this place was 25 min and even then because its so expensive you need to look like your going to buy it just for a test ride!! ah well where can I try next :D then its the new R1 to try :p

It was in a very bad shape when I got it, but at the time it was a jump from 125 to that, so it just blew away my mind.

50 odd days before restriction would be thrown away (hopefully) and then more fun :D, need to do some more work, it looks quiet scruffy on most surfaces, but should be easy to fix with a bit of paint and some scrubbing to get the rust/crap off.

Wanted to go out today but weather is pants :( round here. Usually like to go out on a sunday as well.

One other quesiton.

My Yamaha Fazer 600 (03) has a datatool 2 alarm system on it. I have recently fitted a Oxford battery maximiser in my garage and attached to the bike. I have not used the bike for about 12 days and the alarm light on the bike is very faint. So connected maximiser and everything is fine now.

Does this perhaps sound like my battery is on the way out. Just new to bikes so not sure how long the battery would normally last without using the bike whilst it is sat in my garage with alarm on but not connected to the maximiser.

Am i best of leaving the maximiser always on and charging the bike whilst it is in the garage. Just want to know for when it goes to sleep for the winter months.

Many thanks.

A few reviews that I've read have stated that for the road, the Honda is a better bike to ride. However, on the track, like you stated, the Kawasaki is better. Now, unless, you are buying the bike especially for the track and will not be riding it on the road, the Honda must surely be the better bike?

Though, hopefully BAcon can reply and give a comparison between the 2 bikes.

If you don't use your bike very often I would keep it connected to the optimiser all the time that way your battery will always be fully charged, although a good battery should be fine for many months without charging.

How do those 2 bikes compare?
I wouldve thought that going from the Honda to the Kawasaki, wouldve been a downgrade?

i liked the cbr, it was quite comfortable, probably a little less comfy than the standard cbr600f, was powerful enough etc. But i bought it on reccomendation from a friend as a first bike before i passed my test, i didnt know what bike i wanted at the time.

AFter riding the cbr for a while, i wasnt so much bored, just fancied something more sporty and aggressiv. Plus i loved the looks of the B1h so i gave one a shot.

It rides hard, in pretty much every aspect, pulls harder at low - mid range, screams at top end, the seating position leans you forward over the tank, makes it far easier to tuck in when pressing on hard. The brakes are especially good too. Ends up being a far more enjoyable ride. Plus it looks far more awesome, think its the headlights that do it for me

Rear suspension could do with a little softening, and im on the look out for a softer shock on ebay if one crops up for it, because of this, and the harder front suspension etc, the cbr is the more comfy ride

As for a downgrade, im not so sure about that as im far happier with the zx than the cbr, gives me a grin everytime i wheel it out the garage. Plus next year or later this year i want to give my first track day a go

on a side note, some lady friends told me the red one was prettier than the green one :D silly women

well my ZX10 has decided to blow up (alternator doesn't output), so it's off for surgery at huge cost :(

got a nice little loan bike from bmouth kwak for 2 days, a 09 z750.. lovely bike, silky smooth to ride but no real power surge like i'm used to. great riding position and nice suspension from stock, but it wallows a little on fast corners..

can honestly say I'm abit of a convert now to this style of bike, had me grinning all the way to work, just wish it had abit of a top end rush as it's totally linear in delivery..

it's green though, which makes it instantly fast and very cool :)

nice, but how come you didnt go for its bigger brother, it has a much stronger engine. More up your street I would have thought mate.
