My sig says it all really. He set a precedent that has been copied countless times. For example you can see Eddie Murphy clearly took so many techniques and styles from Richard Pryor

Laurel & Hardy - Been a fan ever since I was a nipper.

Sid James - Very surprised that after four pages nobody has mentioned this comedy legend.
 
Billy Connolly and Stephen Fry.

There are tons of stand-ups and comedy actors who I think are brilliant, but those two stand out as human beings as well as being great comedians.
