Looks like the E6600 is the choice for most at the moment. Pretty much like the Opty 146 was for people when we were all buying them up.

Will be very interesting to see the benchies on just how high the Conroe can be cranked both on air and water.

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 ZX PC2-6400
WD Raptor 150GB x 3 (RAID 5)

I wouldn't recommend a RAID 5 setup on a home PC as it suffers from rather slow write times

I'd just run them as seperate drives, or run four in RAID1+0 or two in RAID 0 (Striped) for speed and keep regular backups :)

Prolly the spec below but the motherboard might change...

Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB) - Retail (CP-128-IN)

Asus P5W DH Deluxe WiFi (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-152-AS) (or an Nforce board or something better!)

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 LA PC2-5300 (2x1GB) CAS4 Dual Channel Kit (F2-5400PHU2-2GBLA) (MY-012-GS) (would I be able to overclock a little with this ram?)

Enermax Liberty 620W ELT620AWT ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (CA-024-EN)

Zalman VF900-CU Quiet Copper VGA Cooler (SY-008-ZA)

Add to that the lovely MSI X1900XT I bought from the ocuk clearence section, and I should have a system to be proud of. I'm relly excited its been a while since I had something as great as this. :)

Who cares what the specs are of a rig you have yet to buy ?

Just buy the rig and oc then post what you got your spec to.

How many more pointless threads do we need here ?

How is it pointless? If you don't like the thread - don't look at it.

I think it's a great help for people who don't know what they want to buy yet.

It gives people an opportunity to have their spec checked to ensure that they're buying the best for their money and that everything is compatible
