The styling cues are a tad more emphasized than on a M5 though, no?

I would say that most *average* Merc owners do not stick tat on there car to make it look like an AMG.

However, I do see many people who put M badges and styling on a 318i etc with the goal of misleading people to believe that it is quicker than it actually is.

When I see an AMG - I am impressed.

When I see an M5 - I have to do a double take to make sure that it isn't just a 5 series with a few shiny bits.

:)

:)

you do realise that there are plenty of 318iS's out there that have ///M badges and sport kits on from the factory?

Back on topic - that Merc is stunning

Saw an M5 touring today, looked pretty damn good :]

M5 touring, still waiting to see one in the wild. Talking about M5's, Ive not seen one for a whiile actually round here.

Yes, I do realise this. I believe you missed my point. Merc's don't come with these extras out of the factory and so an AMG is significantly more distinguishable than an M3/5/6.

Your point was that people put the badges and kit on, then you accept that a lot came from the factory like it, which is completely different.

Of course Merc's don't come out of the factory with AMG badges if its not an AMG, because AMG is like Alpina to BMW (isnt it?), rather than being like the M division of BMW.

no, you could say brabus is to mercedes what alpina is to bmw
amg is the 'equivalent' of M sport
it's mercedes' tuning division, and merecdes owns 51% of AMG

and yes you can get mercedes out of the factory with AMG badges, as you can get AMG sport kits for most of the mercedes range. (ie) bumpers, lowered suspension, AMG wheels, etc
exactly the same principle as M-sport kits on BMWs

No pic im affraid but saw a Maserati Gran Turismo on saturday. Wasnt quite sure what it was from behind and tbh I think the vents in the wing look tacky.

Today they seem to be reviewing a super leggy

I love those to bits, only if I was in the market for a supercar, that would be it. Would have to be an orange one though me thinks :D

Does look a little high on the front. Maybe adjustable suspension to get over speed bumps and in / out of under ground carparks.

Could be down to those new pedestrian safety laws

Yes they do. You can buy AMG body styling kits, AMG branded alloy wheels, all on regular models.

A guy down the road has a 2001 E320 CDI - it has AMG wheels and is badged ///AMG on the back. He is now in his 60's and purchased it new, and isn't the sort ot stick tat on his car. It's presumably a dealer fit badge for cars fitted with AMG accessories just like the M badge on BMW's.

The ONLY way to spot, for example, a 96-02 shape E55 AMG is to check for the badge and the subtle exhuast because its otherwise identical to an E320 CDI Sport, right down to the wheels and bodykit.
