Post Your Garden!

Scarify, overseed, top dress... It'll come back in 2-4 weeks.

Is drainage an issue?
am unsure yet, only lived here 2 weeks. hopefully being on a slope it shouldnt be that bad and should drain off to the garden behind but also being a new build site im sure theres a ton of crap underneath too.

it was left for 8 months without being cut so it grew really long and died.

That'll kill it...

Cut it short, scarify to remove any thatch and rubbish then overseed and top dress. It's grass so normally very resilient.

Make sure you use seed that is suitable for your garden i.e. is it shaded a lot or does it get sun most of the day (I see a few houses surrounding you).

You can get grass seed for full sun, semi-shade and even full shade (poa supina mixed in).

I'll be doing mine again this year and using the full shade seed in some areas due to low light in parts of my front garden with standard seed for other areas that get full sun all day.

I got tips from these videos: 1, 2, 3

Got some fertiliser down a week before dropping the seeds. To speed things up you could mix seeds and compost and cover it and then throw it on like this preventing the rain washing loads of seed away.

Toms, gherkins, french beans, mangetout, strawberries etc are dotted around the house doing their thing until it's warm enough to put them in the greenhouse.

Is that more for a hobby and enjoying your own food? We did a few years ago and it worked out cheaper to buy the stuff from tesco in the end. Was a nice experience though :)

Tbh, if the veg garden wasn't there (it was when i got the place) I may not have bothered, but since it is, I may as well use it.
From my experience growing stuff like mangetout, toms, French beans, asparagus etc is way way cheaper than the over priced tiny packs of store bought produce, that, and I really enjoy growing stuffs from a tiny seed.

One of the best experiences in life for me is popping into the garden and harvesting home grown veg to feed the family

We've got chilli plants(mine) and tomatoes, sweet peppers, carrots, turnips, lettuces all growing inside ready to plant out when the time is right

Gave the grass the first cut of the year..

and in the process managed to lose Kitler for a while, until..

Then proceeded to repair whats left of my lawn,,

Cleaned out the greenhouse and ripped out the Rosemary bush that decided that it didn't want to live anymore, so didn't..

Then my neighbours popped round with some beer for me for looking after their cats, and that well and truly stopped play..

Keep the cloches on 'em its been cold lately! I've got spuds planted but they're in buckets in teh greenhouse won't risk them outside just yet

Is that a home office?
Which one is it and did you build it yourself?
We’ve only recent moved home some 9 months ago and after removing the path our garden looks similar to your before pic, long narrow garden, so good to see how it can look with a some effort.
Sort of, we use it as a gym not an office but it could be one easily.

It's not a kit and I didn't make it, the same people who did the garden made the room but there was a concrete base there already for an old knackered summer house thing.
