Any recommendations on some evergreen shrubs that won't go berserk and easy to maintain?
I have some space in front of the house that has soil before the drive way starts.
I wanted something to cover up the kitchen waste pipes and hide the waste drain but don't want something invasive or is stunted in growth as it can expand full against the front of the house.
Ideally will trim it before the kitchen window line when it grows a reasonable amount.

Thanks

I got a guy coming around today to do a general shrubbery trim back, lawn cutting and then I have to try and figure out what to do with all this space. Way more can a noob gardener can handle.

Will take a look at these https://www.crocus.co.uk/plants/_/perennials/euphorbia-plants/plcid.2/plcid.1439/ to see what could work.

I had originally looked at laurel hedges but these could be mixed up to look interesting.
This is one of mine (Euphorbia characias 'Black Pearl').

It was pretty small when I planted it last year, and it's certainly shot up a bit.

That looks great and very interesting. Not seen many around where I am so doing a 3/4 metre bedding of these to cover the pipes should add some interest to the front of the house.

Did you grab them from local nursery or online? A nursery near my shut down so will try a few others in the area to see what they have in the next few weekends.

I got them from a local nursery.
I've bought plants online before, but found it a bit hit and miss for the condition of them when they've arrived.
At least at a nursery you can see what you're buying.

went down to the bottom of the garden to investigate why my temp fence panels were pushed forward as well as prep for extending my concrete shed base tomorrow.... and found Mr (or Mrs) fox had dug a hole pushing the panels out. it meant what I had planned for a 2 hr job took 5hrs plus. I hope tomorrow goes better with the actual pouring.

Pulled a load of brambles and some hawthorn seedlings and shredded them. Dug over the rose garden and disturbed some mining bee hive, so fled indoors.

Back out later digging out horsetails and taking moss out of the lawn.

What a nice day!

Had a further dig around where the pampas grasses were, omg these root systems are just insane. 2 giant ones, and a smaller one which I spent most of yesterday on. Still nowhere near dug out. The yellow circled area is literally all root when I shove my spade in. The 2 giant leftovers were cut out by a paid gardener. He had no way to cut them up though and fit them through the gate. I don't know what to do with them but they are still growing shoots even though they are out of the ground.

Can anyone recommend a course of action (other than ripping them all out and putting in a fence)? Trees are only really green on the ends and cutting them back leaves large gaps. While I don't mind the neighbours, I'd really rather not see them every time I go out there!

I've had this and got a similar problem with a length of the back hedge

I think it's leaving it too long between cuts, it does off in the middle, you then cut it exposing the problem

We toyed with leaving it or planting a few new ones in the gaps then slowly removing the old as the new grow, but not sure how well they would grow in between the old ones....

Yes, that's my concern (along with how long it would take), as to whether much would grow in between the existing trees. Thanks.
