Post Your Garden!

Recently had my garden done, the only problem I have now is which is partly my fault at the time. Instead of suggesting to the landscaper to just top the flower bed with soil, to save a bit of money he has re-used some of the old dirt from my dugged out garden which had roots to weeds.
The main reason to porcelain the whole garden is to avoid the need to cut all the weeds, but now I am dealing with weeds growing inside our flower bed.
I have tried using weed killers and I have had no luck in getting rid of them fully.
The flower bed is designed in a 3 tier block..now I have tried to dig out some of the dirt in the 3rd tier last weekend and I was having a bit of hard time with a shovel.
Any tips in digging out old dirt/soil quicker in the flower bed?

I see some of you see are not a fan but its all personal preference, I am not a fan of grass or weeds at all.
As for the weeds growing the flower bed, I can top it back up and then put something on top to supress it yes, I just thought if I dig it all out so its just the base(the base should just be the foundation the landscaper used for putting down the porcelain) and then re-fill it with shingles instead.

What are you planning to grow?

It's just there for decorative purpose so we won't be growing anything, we was going to plant artifical flowers eventually and surround it with shingles(black/white stones). Which is what we have right now, but the weeds growing out of them is just making look horrible. Hence why I came up with the silly idea of digging out the old dirt and then fill the bed with something else.
But it turned out to be quite impractical now or requires more effort than I thought it would have been.

No? I can see you're not a fan of my garden and it won't be to everyone taste but it is a WIP and it does look barebones at the moment still.
No need for any silly jokes, I only posted in here to get some advice regarding the flower bed and to "show" what my garden looks like now.
Previously the garden was just all weeds(new build), to the point it looked like a mini jungle and I don't have the patience to pull or tidy the garden up.

Just dig it out then and fill with whatever. When you said flower bed I assumed you'd be growing something.

The idea was to just put "decorative" things on top, whether it was art flower or garden statues. The filler was meant to be soil, but to cut down the cost the old dirt that was digged out the garden was used to top up the "bed'. But the old dirt contained weeds in it which has obviously started to grow.

For as long as there is something for the plant to grow in and moisture, weeds will grow regardless.

These weeds will be coming from all sorts of places and not necessarily the existing soil, the wind caries seeds for miles, birds and other animals etc.

I would plant some perennials into it, make them a nice feature with a bit of life. Most require little maintenance other than cutting back once a year.

Get some pots out where with some herbs, you’ll get all the nice fragrances from them and most grow like weeds and will over winter very well (aka they are very easy to grow, just add water and occasional plant food). Parsley, thyme, chives, rosemary, oregano, mint would be my recommendation. You can usually do basil and coriander over the summer too.

You could always do the herbs on the planters, except mint, that does need to be confined to its own pot.

Weed seeds will turn up in the wind and land in any soil, or anything really, if its just decorative go with larger stones and top with your ornaments. A water feature would be nice, although some planters all the way round and some trees for privacy, shade and birds would be better but to each his own. Just a shame its terrible for nature.

It's neat and tidy and low maintenance, but a bit dead and sterile :(

But like you say, personal preference.

I'll do the same again, so next year should be colourful, and the bees will be happy :D
