Post Your Garden!

Guys, can I have some help, please. I have the laborious task of knocking out all the mortar out of the paving and re-grouting. What is the best mix to use for grout? The plan is to knock it all out (I started yesterday, fun job) then going to jet spray and clean and then grout.

Usually a 1:4 is more than enough.

Have a look into Epoxy grout.

From the picture you have around 10x4m paving plus the path. The spacings look to be around 20mm. Having raked out the old mortar, min 30mm depth you will going through a lot of the brush in stuff. The only one Ive found that goes hard once down is the Marshalls Weatherpoint 365. The Sika type compounds are permeable so never truly go hard. Quality control on the sikas is very poor. Epoxy is a two man job and not suited to all paving (its a pain to shift from the riven on the face of the slabs). It can also change the appearance of the paving. I think I'd be doing it the old fashioned way and hand pointing it.

Thanks for the comments. I'm likely to just go for a 1:4 mix (although hear most go for 3) of sharp sand and concrete as there is so much to do. I'm also not sure whether I should add water or not, seems to differ on opinions in the trade.

Cut the grass for the 2nd time this week, trimmed the box hedge and then dug up a bunch of ferns that were beside the greenhouse (not fun in this heat) and chucked a load of decorative gravel down and lobbed in some plants..

Then transferred some French beans, toms and courgettes from the greenhouse to the veg patch..

And tomorrows job is to tame this mahoosive rose a bit..

Now it's time to get rip roaring drunk in the sunshine :D

That's my kinda talk, I raise a glass to you Sir! :)
:D

Still a bit of a work in progress and not especially large, but a nice enough space to chill :)

Neighbours fence is the crappy one by the way :p

You could make that a nice space.

Give those conifers a trim/tidy back.

Paint your side of the fence in a black paint. It'll look a million times better than the horrible brown most people choose and will make your plants "pop" against the black background.

Get a border in on the far side and grab some faster growing and/or semi mature plants. Some variety of Prunus such as a a Prunus Amanogawa would look good with their multi stems and decent height. Fatsia Japonica are also cool, maybe even some phormium grasses with smaller grass varities. Just get the generic fences covered up with paint and masked with lovely perenials and it'll feel incredible :D

Trying to get my garden to some sort of normality after the extension to the rear from last year the beginning of this, Garden was ruined with the work scopes etc.

Apologies for the large format sizes.

Its Cuprinol 5 year ducksback Silver Copse. Needed quite a few coats and it is a thicker paint but it leaves like a waxy texture once the coats have all dried.

Am thinking of buying this ducksback Silver Copse paint to do my fence, What is your fences like now after 2 years ?

Well worth the effort Andybtsn, a job well done. Commiserations to your back.

Why are all the photos on the ****? Security camera? The garden and paving work deserve better!
:)

I’m not sure what was starred out but assuming you’re asking why the pics aren’t straight?! It’s because I’m next to the oil tank in a little crevice, you can see a post in the second pic so I was just getting a pic in line with that really

Got a sunflower seedling from my dad. Potted it all up and stuck it outside. This part of the garden is South facing and gets the sun right through from about 9am till 6pm just now so should do well as long as I keep it watered and fed.

Apparently this is a variety that can get to 4 metres tall

Got a box of those clips you see in the image to support it up the cane as it goes.

Chaps, some advice please... I have a border on the right hand side that is mostly bramble, ivy and holly. I am looking to make it a bit "nicer" and add some more interesting things. However, the ground is literally like concrete. I was showing a friend my new fork and it actually just bounced off of the floor, lol. It has been dry but this seems odd.

Anyway - I think I want to edge it; turn over the soil; remove any ivy weeds and maybe plant something. Am I just going OTT?

Also what is in vogue for edging?
