Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

Here is a before and after. Not much difference, but the key is that the new gear was FREE :D

Before :

TV : LG LG50PS3000 (Bought Dec when we moved in)
Blu-ray : Sony BDP560 (Free)
PVR : Humax 9200T (Old)
Stand : S&C
Surround Sound : Acoustic Energy Aego P5 (Old)

When we first moved in (December) we had an old 32" CRT tv stand and a 32" Sony LCD. We sit about 3-4m away form the television, after 1 night of watching television on that we decided to get a new one. Our budget was not that much, so we tried to go for bang for buck.

After

The new bits and pieces start to take shape.

Excuse the quality of the pictures, certainly the last one. The blue glow is a lot more subtle in real life and that big glare at the top is not like that at all. The picture really does not do it justice. It was definitely a cheap way to get lighting behind the TV (which you will see in a moment).

The new free gear is as follows :

AMP : Sony STRDH800
Stands : Q Acoustics cinema 2000 stands
Speakers : Q Acoustics Cinema 2000 Pack

The wiring and 'Lighting' :D

The wiring is a lot tidier now. The lighting is a bit red-neck but they were left over at Christmas and I thought I would give it a try

The system in general is awesome for us. Such great sound when we watch films etc. It mainly gets used for parties and entertaining. It great to have the sound thumping out of all five speakers. Luckily we don't have any direct neighbours, the closest is across the road from us.

Certainly not as good as a lot of peoples setups (and my god there are some crackers) but it good enough for us and most of it didn't cost a penny :).

I don't suspect we will change anything in the foreseeable future, maybe get some floor standers for the front but that is about it.

You need to get those wires hidden.

It ruins a rocking install.

If you need some tips email me in trust

I have hidden most of them since I took those pictures. The Front left and right speakers cable is now under the carpet and completely hidden. Most of the cable at the back is tidy apart from 2 (which i use for the laptop and ipod.)

I will email for some advice though if you dont mind as im always keen to learn more tricks.

My new Roksan Kandy K2 Integrated Amplifier and SqueezeBox Touch, rest of system is an Audio-GD DAC-19MK3 and Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 speakers, will upgrade speakers soon for something better...

Thought I'd post a picture of my setup after cleaning it yesterday. Bit of glare on the screen but it'll suffice for the pictures sake. :p

Are those Lack benches on top of each other?

Looks very nice, I use Plex on my iMac connected to my TV. But I don't like the wall posters! :p

They are indeed. And they're a bloody nightmare to keep clean.

I'm still toying about with the setup of it (only got the Mac Mini yesterday) so the wall posters could be gone before too long. :D

My little setup.

Wow, some very nice home cinemas here and also some very good stereo setups, I will get some pictures of my setups when I get them finished in the next few weeks or months.

Although I have noticed a lot of people dont realise that placement is everything, it seems some people just plop their speakers down and dont realise that if they played with the positioning and got them set up right it would make a huuuugeee difference.

About to move into a new flat though and I've got 2x Dell 20" monitors now so will need to update my pics soon.

Isn't there an equivalent thread for PC set-ups  I had a look and it seems odd there isn't as this is a computer forum first and foremost! I need inspiration for a new desk :D
