Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

My current setup. Not quite how I would like it, but no alternative location for that chair. Thankfully Audyssey takes care of it.

Centre could be a little higher, I'm on the lookout for a new unit, but might build one.

Surround left is a little close to the wall, but again no choice and there's no boom, so happy with it.

Just a straightforward 5.1 (the sub is under the white Xbox on the right). I like the sound, although I keep looking at Options lol

Check colour temperature on your TV , can't tell but it looks quite blue, the non blue tinted things still look blue. Bring up a documentary where it's snow fields, you want the white as neutral white as possible, not blue or red.

You can get TV stands that mount on the vesa mount and with shelves ie something like this

I use something else, it offers adjustable TV height and adjustable shelving height

That's quite an uplift in cost to 502's that you havn't had for that long really. What prompted you to make that decision @JasonM ?
I had a good deal on the SP's is the main reason. The regular F502's are good yet they were the weakest link in my system , the SP's have more refinement in the sound as they use technology from the 700 series. It's going to be quite a while before I change speakers.

I've also purchased a second Yamaha cd-s2100 SACD player it's going in my home office. These units have a Steinberg USB connection that allows ASIO, so I have one on a HTPC on main hifi, and the other using XLR out into studio monitors on office setup.

Thanks, the TV is fine. I had to edit in phone as the original was quite dark and I went a little creative.

There's no chance she'll accept that stand lol

I've previously looked at the stands which are just for the TV and sit behind, but the speaker sitting on top on the table looks out of place. I'll probably just build something as it's hard to find the right dimensions I need pre built.

These are the last change to my system for some considerable time i think. Retired my Spendor A9's and now replaced with a pair of Focal Sopra N2's.

Relatvively brave colour choice. I love them, but as a historic box swapper i was always quite conscious of resale value and the ability to shift stuff quickly.

I actually loved the colour the first time i saw them years ago. It was actually a toss up between Orange or Red.........................Orange won the day lol.
Plus, the Sopra 2's are that good that these are "keepers", i've got no intention of changing them.

Dual Sonos subs weren’t cutting it in the front room.

Paired with the abysmal app, I decided to migrate away from the Sonos ecosystem - the appeal of Sonos was ease of use and “good enough” sound quality. Neither of these were true anymore.

I spent a while testing different speakers, and really loved the Monitor Audio Silver 7G for how they sounded and looked.

I couldn’t get them at a price I was willing to pay, though.

I ended up going with Arendal, completely blind. Watched some (proper) reviews from Erin’s Audio Corner with measurement-backed facts and decided they would likely be a good fit for my room.

Still setting up the speakers, but here are the subs:

2x Sub 2s which are dual 13.8 inch sealed subs with a 1000w amp. They don’t go quite as low as I would like, but I got them for a decent price and they’re perfect for now. I wanted to get dual XTZ 1x12 Edge but the shipping cost around Christmas was diabolical.

Looked at other stuff but nothing fit my aesthetic requirements of no gloss.

Edit:

Main speakers (LCR at the moment only)

Looking nice, just sort those cables :p

It’s on the list, eventually :P

I haven’t unpacked my office/tech stuff yet as I haven’t had the need for an office room.
Maybe look into a dedicated streamer, not using the TV as source/chromecast?

I use a pi5/picoreplayer with wiim ultra and SB touches and much better than phone/TV UPNP/AVR streaming

Server system is what sets it apart.

I’m using the Apple TV with Apple Music which enables full high res streaming :)

Are there any guides out there on building a streamer that can pass uncompressed atmos / dtx:x etc? As well as all the streaming services?

You'd be looking at video streamer? as those will be BD rips or somekind. I usually switch the TV on, select the file in kodo box, start playing then switch the TV off (as they have a static picture screen)

Got the fleetwood mac rumours BD that is multi channel audio

Not aware of any atmos/dts X only flac files although I guess they could exist, doubt many audio only streamers can output DTS X / Atmos anyway. most I have tested is some two channel DTS pcm flac.

Don't know how good the apple server is, but try LMS on PC/Mac/NAS/PI for your music local library. Then use material skin, LMS app UPNP plugin, and enable the release type option. Your Apple TV could then be seen as a Squeezebox device.

I don’t have a local music library :)

Apple Music works well enough for me and my news needs
