Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

I added the little shelf that the center speaker speaker sits on myself. The local hardware store cut some MDF to size then I screwed it together using L shaped brackets.

  • LG 50PK590 (used for display only)
  • HTPC for TV (Dual Tuner Freeview), Media Browser for other TV and Movies (Centre Cabinet)
  • Sony STRDA1200ES Amp (Centre Cabinet)
  • Xbox 360 (Right Cabinet)
  • Wii (Right Cabinet)
  • Sony Pascal 5.1 speakers (had these for years and would like to replace but they still do a good job)

That TV looks tiny ....but its 50"
That's what I thought when I loaded up the pics, but it looks a lot bigger when sat in front of it.

Nice cabinet. Have you got a link or model number for it?
Cheers, but no link/model. When I put my last plasma up on the wall (~6 and a bit years now) there wasn't any low profile cabinets like that. Were either full sideboard cabinets or coffee tables so I decided to make my own.

It's made up of three kitchen cabinets (from ikea), the sides/bottom/top are made to fit and the whole lot is mounted on legs. It actually works really well as it fits flush to the wall but has false backs in it to run/hide all the cables/electronics leaving the actual storage space nice and clear.

Honestly it doesn't look as getto as it sounds and funny as ikea now sell several cabinets pre-made just like it.

very, very nice setup. Where did you get the av bench from?

edit: nm, just saw your other post. Well done for making that though. Do things still all work fine 'behind closed doors' as it were.

Cheers, and yes all works fine. Both the HTPC and amp work via IR so fine as there is a frosted glass front. The xbox and wii are radio/bluetooth so can be hidden away out of sight.

Oh and both middle and right cabinets have venting so no worries about overheating etc.

nice one, i'll be visiting ikea and doing a little re-jig of my front room in the next few weeks. i was considering going down the projector root but to be honest i don't think i can quite justify the cost. I'll be on the lookout for something like that on my vistit..

Loving that cabinet, GSXRMovistar, very classy! I have the Ikea BESTA one with 2 glass doors and 2 solid doors, which is similar, but this still looks superior due to the gloss finish, trim and handles

excuse the **** photo, This is the "BESTA", containing am oldish Philips home cinema & HDD recorder, cable STB, Sony VCR :P and a 46" Samsung 7760 LED, with WiFi link to my desktop in the next room, which is my main content source. Works great!

Found something very similair/identical at Ikea. At £200 I think i'll give it a miss :D

Yamaha RX-V1600
Mordaunt Short 906i Fronts

SVS PB-10 (Fantastic!!!)

the BESTA is 40cm deep and 120cm long. As I have 2 of them together and I can put all my kids toys in there out of the way as well as my AV stuff. So quite pleased with it.
