Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

Absolutely love the hark rack for the Cyrus kit. You must be mad buying the AV8 though! An acceptable reason would be to fill all the available space on the rack I suppose!

Please explain why? its the AV8 Master with 7:1. Front speakers are mono blocked, rears have power amp, sub has its own amp, the AV8 only does center and surround in 7:1 (with its internal amps). With that much ampere sounds good to me (very loud as well)

Don't get me wrong, I bet it sounds amazing, I just get the impression that its pretty short on features and rather expensive. I'm sorry I sounded negative, It is a lovely setup and the full up hark rack is a beautiful sight!

I always wanted to go the audiophile route and not compromise on sound quality, all the gizmos on modern AV amps do not interest me, simple high quality 5:1 or 7:1.

Had the speakers a few years now and for my requirements they have been brillaint.

Started to add my collection to XBMC, seems to have a few issues with similar-sounding films (took me 20 minutes to realise that it had mis-labelled Rambo "Rambo 2"!

In other news - if anyone wants to experience some rather sexy amount of bass, try the 20th Century Fox intro for Die Hard 4 :D

Gitbags, what inputs do you need from a DAC? The M-Dac is quite good but the JKDAC32 sounds better, though it sadly only has USB input which can be a problem for some, not for my as my PC is the source.

I got the M-Dac on a home demo before trying the JK.

I'm only thinking aloud at the moment, but I was thinking of replacing my dacmagic and gs solo ul for something like the m-dac. Mainly for the convenience of one box instead of two. Should be able to raise most of the money for it by selling them on. But not being able to get a demo of it really puts me off.

Inputs aren't an issue as I could use USB or spdif from my m-audio 24/96. I must admit I've read nothing but good things about the jkdac32 especially when compared to the m-dac and rega dac (which I already have on my main setup). But at the minute I'm just trying to fight a bout of upgraditus.

Hey chaps I have a quick question, I'm about to remove my fireplace and put my tv on the wall with the centre of the screen at eye level.

I have a 47" panasonic led and I have alcoves either side of the fireplace.

Should I try to squeeze the speakers into the same wall or wall mount in the alcoves?

I have tannoy hts 101s. There really isn't much room either side of the tv and the speakers would almost be pushed up against the screen. In the alcove they will effectively be set back from the screen.

Thoughts?
