Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

LG 55LA660V from the big high street retailer.

£1299.

I was convinced I was going to replace my 42" Panasonic plasma with a 50" one until I saw this one and was impressed enough to jump brands.

I'm glad I did, not only was it cheaper than the equivalent Panasonic (correct me if I am wrong) but the frame really is something else.

The connectivity is brilliant, automatically found my PLEX server and it has Android photo apps to auto sync any pictures taken on your phone to your TV. As well as the usual remote control apps (and you can watch TV, through your TV but on your phone o_O).

Finally got my AV kit setup - purchased the house back in March 2012, then renovated it since, purchased the AV kit in Feb 2013 but couldn't install it till now as carpet has been put down!

Specs:

TV - Panasonic 55" ST50B
Amp - Yamaha RXV-673
Speakers - Dali Zensor 5 5.1 Setup
Streamer - AC Ryan PlayOn HD2

Loving it so far, my first TV let alone AV setup :)

Mission 780se L/R
Mission 77c centre

Good quality wiring is essential, but you don't have to go mad - I got mine from eBay, just search for oxygen free or ofc speaker cable. Oxygen Free Copper is Oxygen Free Copper and no-one has ever convinced me that spending a fortune makes a perceivable difference. I suppose if you've invested thousands into top end gear then shielded or silver cable is better - I've even seen cables with filters at the plugs - but that sort of thing will cost anywhere between "pricey" and "omfg".

It's basically this, but half the price as it's not branded (or from Richer Sounds who make a fortune on cables lol). http://www.richersounds.com/product/speaker-cables/cambridge-audio/symphony-400/gale-symphony-400

I bought 40m of it - the wiring for the rear speakers was embedded in the walls when I redecorated, theres a double wallplate off to the left and another on the rear wall so I don't have cables running along the floor to the back of the room. Additionally I ran cable from the rear double to each upper corner of the wall with a single wall plate in each to feed the wall-mounted Focal Domes.

Rubbish photos, but gives you the idea:

There's a lot of snake oil talked about with cables ;)

The main thing is not to buy something too small or heavy for the length but for most people the easiest and cheapest compromise solution is to buy a halfway decent multi-strand copper cable

If you REALLY want to know about cables, read this guy. Basically you can use whatever you damn well like for speaker cable as long as it's reasonable quality and you think about line resistance. I keep meaning to make some cables the way he describes out of Cat5 - maybe now you've asked I'll do it :)

I love how this feels like something from Japan.

Ahhh I see.

It's zebra wood. I figured that if I was going to spend silly money on a custom cabinet then something more unusual than oak was a decent idea and it matches a wide range of wood shades so can cope with decor changes.

I got my speaker wire. 20m for £7. Sorted the fronts and center, ill do the rears at the weekend when I have a bit more patience. I realised that the old wire was about 20 years old :)

@ easyrider - Ive looked at your cinema room a few times and love it!!
