Hope to add the Onkyo TX-SR875 or the Pioneer VSX-LX60 with some nice speakers in the new year.

Nice kit so far, I'd be interested to hear your review of the Pioneer PDP-LX6090 as I am planing to get either the 5090 or 6090 next week. Problem is I will be able to see the 50" but will have to just order the 60" and all the reviews (which have been awesome) are for the 50" version. Did you compare the both when you bought yours ? was the Blacks/colour as good on the 60 as it was on the 50. Reason I ask when I bought my last plasma the bigger versions wasn't as good in terms of contrast etc as the smaller version.

Cheers

I directly compared the 50 vs. 60 at a local AV dealership.

I originally wanted the 50" but after seeing it next to the 60" there was no comparison. Visually, the difference is almost nothing.. I couldn't spot anything to discern that the 60" was worse.. if anything it looked just as amazing in terms of black levels and detail.

The deciding factor was my viewing distance (12ft) and that I had a large wall in which to mount, so I didn't fancy putting the 50" on the wall then a year down the line regret it. I have it running the settings posted by Bumtious over at AVForums.com, but I also intend on getting it ISF calibrated in the new year when the screen burns in after 200hrs.

You can find some reviews of the 60" online, but I won't link to them as some have adverts / links for competitors. I would say, if you are set on the 50", but can afford the 60" you won't be dissapointed!

Here is a direct comparison between the sizes..

Any other questions, fire me an email

Thanks for that, I have a 50" Panasonic at the moment that's why I'd like to upgrade to a 60" but Picture quality is very important especially Blacks... also just noticed you're in Wales if it's anywhere near me, closest place being Swansea then I'd pop around to the AV dealership you went to for a comparison.

I live in Swansea

I won't say exactly where, but go to the enterprise zone (near Halfords) and they have both Pioneers in the back room, side by side.

The 5090 and 6090 have the same PQ, just go for whichever one will suit your needs best.

I sit at ~9ft from *** tv when on the sofa and the 5090 is perfect, plus the 6090 was out of my price range, and didn't warrant the costs for me. If you want a massive screen then go for a 5090 then £2k on a nice JVC projector :D

Here's mine

Sorry about the rubbish picture quality. Had this lot for about 2 years now and still going strong.

Hard to get decent quality pictures in the poor lighting in this room but still:

Probably the most unfitting pictures of Bruce Willis in this scene lol :p, but it shows off the quality more since its not fast moving:

Homemade table/stand thing (surprisingly the PS3 doesn't get hot cramped in there :D)

No surround sound or anything yet, the room is rather small.
