I have DM602 S3 and find the treble a bit excessive, in fact my dial was down the bottom when they were in use. Are the new model much lighter on treble? Found the bass about right in the neutral/centre position, but that depends on the room a lot.

Yea basically my speakers before the 685s were pretty bright in comparison and I found the 685s actually dull tbh. I'm preferring the sound with treble maxed out. I think the DAC plays a major role as well as too me both bass and treble do not feel too excessive or harsh at all and I think generally OP627 opamps are fairly netural. 685s I've found to be pretty 'dark' and they need bright components.

No it's not though they do look pretty identical, it was from a computer components retailer but I've just had a look and can't seem to find the same one anymore.
