Post your most INTENSE game moment

Multiplayer, Nascar 2003, nothing like 5 laps to go sitting in the lead 5-6 car train.

One false move and everybody dies, the tension used to be quite unreal, more so than it ever was in counterstrike, bf2 or the like where confidence takes over.

If I can find my CD maybe I could join you in a race? :)

CoD4 search and destroy games on one server that I forget the name of were always epic... shame it closed down now, none of the others are as good.

Was such an amazing feeling when you're last man alive trying to find the enemy before they plant/defuse a bomb... stalking along slowly trying to work out where they were until they jump out in front of you and either gun you down or you manage to kill them first, then on to the next guy... I was actually sweaty and exhausted after some of those games. Never played any games as good since.

Good calls on WoW. I never experienced 40 man, but 25 people in Vent was pretty mad, especially with multiple attempts at bosses like Magtheridon (takes the ****), VR, Gruul. 1% wipes, anyone? :D

I remember when we were down to 3 or 4% and players began to finally succumb to environmental damage/lack of healing and Vent went crazy, so, so much pressure to finish off the boss. Good times.

HL2 - Ravenholm. Most atmospheric level I've ever had the pleasure of playing, damn.

BF2

Was in a tank defending the MEC airbase on Kubra Dam, a US bomber came flying towards me which I blew up with a shell, the wreckage hit my tank & propelled it straight up in a spinning motion. I jumped out when it started drop I was so high I couldn't see the ground, must have been around 2,000 ft.

One of my most pant wetting moment in a game was in AvP on the Jag, it was in the early hours of the morning, just the motion tracker beeping then *PARP* the Alien Queen jumps out at me, I've never jumped so high or so hard.

Turok 2 (1998?) on the Nintendo 64, I think I reached level 3 or 4, basically the bit with all the insects in, I was their base and there were holes in the walls (of the base), suddenly loads of cockroach type alien insects began popping out and attacking my Turok.

I pulled my Sunfire cannon out and started lasering them until I succumbed to the sheer numbers of alian insects, the first time that happened really sticks in my mind. As I died all I could see was giant cockroaches jumping at my face...

In 2010, Mass Effect 2, The Suicide mission, the pacing and music was really cool, it was like being in a Dirty Dozen movie, going in guns a blazing not knowing who was about to pop it.

Whilst playing Flanker 2.5 online in a mass guns-only furball, I managed to find myself entangled in a low-level dogfight with one of the best players in the game. I'd disengaged from the furball to return to base to rearm, as I was down to about 20 rounds of ammo for my 30mm cannon. (Not much when you consider that you're firing from an aircraft moving at high speed in 3 dimensions at another object moving in a similar fashion). I was streaking along a river valley at low level to avoid being spotted, when I noticed another aircraft doing the same thing a few km away. We must have seen each other at the same time, as we both broke hard into each other, trying to pull lead to get a shot with our respective aircraft's guns. What followed was a 10 minute epic, in a game where most fights were decided in the 1st few turns, we had a proper drawn out battle right on the deck.

It ended when I managed to force him out in front from the rolling scissors, letting me line up on him for a shot. I loosed off the remaining ammo I had in one long burst, managing to hit him on the right rear fuselage and tailplane with about 10-12 rounds, the rest passing behind him. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to shoot him down though. In spite of the fact that he'd lost an engine and a vertical tail plane, he was still able to limp home and land, whereas a lesser pilot like me probably would have ejected and conceded the kill. Still, I was pretty made up, I'd held my own against one of the best pilots in the game for nearly 10 minutes, and come within a hair's breadth of scoring a kill at his expense. He was even gracious enough to admit as much after the game in ICQ.

Beat Hazard: 30 sec outro on new born by muse after a 6minute song.... lots of stuff to kill with no gun to shoot them.... running around like a little pussy... so damn tense (I failed with 12 sec left)

Actually that reminds me - another oldy from me - I remember playing the original Tomb Raider on my original Playstation. Was a nice easy ride so far admiring the scenery and some easy foes, then all of a sudden out of the darkness this huge T-rex looking beast runs right at me, bullets seeming to do nothing. Jumped right out of my chair.

being permabanned from the CS 1.6 server I used 100% of the time for revenge slapping an admin off the roof in assault!
was very funny tho!

First time I played CS:S. Dust 2 bought a scout on T's, I was last man Vs 6 others and took them all out.

Was well in to CoD2 at the time and scout no scopes felt just like the Kar98.

Oof hard question, so many moments over the years.

As a quick one, probably the final 5% of our server first kill of C'Thun way, way, way back in the day (when he was still un-killable by 99% of the wow population).

Beach Landings and Hill 400 (hold out) in COD2 set to Veteran.

Going over the top to a hail of gun fire, not knowing where to go or who is shooting at you.

Lots of times in League of Legends - most memorable was when our OCUK team were taking a bit of a battering from the other side and getting a lot of smack talk as well as a result. The consensus was we couldn't loose to such a poorly mannered team so we all dug in and ultimately the win was ours - very sweet moment. Then as I think about it loosing a player over the weekend right at the start so we were playing 4 v5 and still got the win was pretty intense or the next game where Random started it by saying lets get them surrendering in 15 minutes. Was another 10 minutes (you can only surrender at 25 mins :) ) but sure enough they surrended :)

Had a few pure gaming gold moments, notable ones being –

Resident Evil 1 – killing the final plant type boss at the end. By the end I had next to no ammo left and no herbs and down to next to nothing health…. I only ever completed that stage once.

Tomb Raider 1 – Lost Valley with the t-rex scene. I had absolutely no idea when I walked around the corner I’d be running away from a huge bloody dinosaur. After that, realised why the level was called “lost valley”…!!

Medal of Honour allied assault – Omar beach landing. I was so immersed in running and ducking for cover, and being shouted at and hearing bullets shoot around me, I thought I was actually there, and had flashbacks of ‘Saving Private Ryan’…. Excellent gaming moment.

Just about any scene in Doom 3 (I couldn’t complete that game, just had me in edge with every single corner). One of, it not the scariest game I’ve ever played.

Call of Duty 4 – mission where you shoot the terrorists arm off, and then the building blows up and you leg it one to the extraction point.

Been a few more however these are some intense and just completely memorable gaming moments.

Sorry have to be boring and add some cliches to this list:

Wolf 3D - That feeling you got when it first clicked that you were navigating a 3D world with enemies in wait. The period from when you first started playing to after you had downed your first enemy - that was intense (you kiddies may take it for granted now, but for an 11-year old it was like playing Gauntlet in First-person, which was the definition of awesome).

Doom/Doom 2 - Everything about it, from the first pistol shot to the last BFG blast. Also responsible for my first ever Deathmatch.

Quake - as above.

I think we gamers owe ID a massive debt.

TFC - Clan matches with SHS, both at lan events and in the big euro leagues (similar to footballs champions league)

DAOC - (In the eary days) Defending a keep with my matter cabalist and clan group against silly numbers of hibs/mids.
Also anything to do with Darkness Falls, esp solo as you always knew that an enemy wasn't far away... watching..
