I would imagine that until it was very cheap to get people there (i.e. not for a very, very long time) the only people who will be allowed to go will be people who are needed (e.g. scientists, doctors). I can't imagine that they're going to trawl places like @Lysander's old place of work for people to ship up to Mars :D

But if we sent chavs to Mars it'd be a win for Earth, they wouldn't be here and they'd be too moronic to figure a way back.

It doesn't, it just modifies it and perhaps makes it more accurate (though still subject to all the biases/whims of individuals drivers) - you get a subjective rating after every trip with uber, if you're a real scumbag and a bunch of drivers give you a bad enough rating then you'll simply be booted off the app. If you've got a low rating but not so low that you're kicked off the app then some drivers will not pick up your ride requests, you might be stuck with new/naive drivers who pick inefficient routes, take longer to get to you etc..

Works both ways - drivers also get rated and you can choose to filter them out, though as a passenger your rating carries less weight than a driver's does for you purely because of the relative difference in the number of journeys you have vs them.

Arguably the tipping aspect throws in some inherent discrimination too - black cabs didn't tend to rely on tips beyond people saying "keep the change" to the driver, with uber there is more of a US style tipping culture. I don't know how it breaks down with uber cabs but people can be very superficial when it comes to tipping... in restaurants, this can mean that being young, attractive, female and white is a going to earn you more money than others with everything else equal. Obs your ability to do the job well is a big factor but the reliance on the customer to provide that bit of variable compensation throws in a bit variance. With a black cab and less of a tipping culture your pay is more just down to your ability to do your job well and everyone is paid according to the same rates for that work given the time of day/date/distance and time travelled etc..

I think you'll find Rude Boys is a slang term for Jamaican neds (chavs, street thugs).

The term ned is most encompassing - Non Educated Delinquent. ;)
