Postman Prat Where’s Me Mail?

I'm sorry to say it Jeff, but it's been years in the coming. When I was working for RM, the inefficiencies were staggering. Postmen who were working for about 4 or 5 hours a day then sitting at home with their feet up and getting paid docket (overtime) on top of that as well.
Yes, I appreciate thats how it used to be and I've tried to show over the past ten years how it's changed.

Christmas pressure - Posties getting paid extraordinary amounts of overtime for simply carrying a few more letters. Again, most of them got to get home early, yet were claiming docket for overtime that they never worked!
Ghosting overtime I assume you mean? Again this is long gone.
I think it's about time that RM had a kick in the pants and the posties brought into the real world where they actually have to do an honest days work!
If you'd have said that back then then you'd be right on the money, however, things have changed big style and you'd be surprised at the differences if you were to do the job now.

The RM Group made £400 million profit last year (even letters\parcels make them £52 million) - it isn't like they're losing money so why aren't they organising their resources appropriately?

I've seen the second round disappear and increasing amounts of Eastern European staff with bad English doing the deliveries. As a former employee I had to clock in, clock out in order to be paid and had a 45 minute break in the shift (unpaid). I did a 10 hour nightshift on the first day and slacking wasn't tolerated - if you were too slow you risked losing your job. I should add I couldn't care less what the CWU was doing during my contract.

Bold text, no line breaks, non-standard font? Not a chance in hell I'm reading that crap.

And I'm going to go out of my way and post this letting you know that.

I agree - Royal Fail... A business that is destined for the scrapheap...

if you worked for them then surely you know that they have been making more and more profits over the last few years ?

the days of having three postys doing one mans job and general lazyness have long gone. they cut 1000s of jobs in the mid 00s and since then have been making massive profits.

also yet again we have a thread of people thinking its their god given right to have post delivered the next day and to never ever have any delays. just think of the old ''see how far you can take your letter for 28p'' remark

what they do for the price they do it at is amazing . no other mailing companies can even come close

I agree that management of the company was also quite poor. The management structure alone was designed to incorporate incredible amounts of red tape. Imposing things like no paper for office printers to save money meant that some people simply could not produce anything when they went to work.

This, very good words spoken there.

Letters I have no problem with. Anything too big for the postie to carry though is another matter. 1st class parcels are taking weeks to turn up :(
Not sure what the problem is there.

Im trying recorded and special delivery now to see if thats faring any better. Maybe 1st class recorded will arrive next day :)

Seems to be a few posties in this thread, a question for you.
If a signed note is left asking the Postman to leave mail that requires a signature in a *safe place* to save on a trip to the depot is he allowed to do that? Or must he get a scribble on his clipboard.

If they're working by the book they'll take it to the depot.

No idea how our postie is, seems to change on a weekly basis.

Certainly noticed the postal service isnt as reliable as it used to be. Which is a shame, but all this going on strike crap just makes things worse for them.

Change is a fact of life, get on with it instead of crying over spilt milk!

For the first time in about three years i got absolutely no post today, not even those cheerful letters about nothing in particular i usually get every day (love the junk :D )

It put me in such a foul mood i even went out and asked the postman if he had missed anything. He hadn't. :p

He needs a scribble on his clipboard. Signed for services are for the benefit of the sender, not the recipient, after all they want confirmation that what they've sent has been recieved.

I would be happy getting no post for a year if it meant all these posties got what was coming to them and were fired.

Im off to coldplay at wembley tomorrow. My friend dropped out because he forgot it was his sisters wedding so I sold my spare standing tickets for face value + postage on the bay. I took it to the post office 9am monday morning and sent it 1st class recorded delivery (1-2 working days).

I've tracked it online and it still hasn't arrived! Anyone know where I stand with this if it doesn't turn up to the winner on time?

Very pathetic view. Not all posties are bad you know? Like most things, the minority ruin it for the majority.

Ahh well, hope you get sacked (if you are infact working) as it's obviously what you have coming to you.

Similar boat, 1st class recorded taking longer than ideal. You should have sent them special delivery, afaik thats the only guaranteed next day service.
