Potential power outages this winter

This whole scare mongering about old people dying in the winter is tosh. Our house never went to single digits.

These two words being the poerative ones. I've lived in a house myself where we needed the boiler running 24/7 in winter just to keep the place remotely comfortable, the windows had gaps in them big enough to stick your hand through. If that boiler failed, we would've dropped to single digits within an hour or two.

I have 4 18v Stanley Fatmax batteries and one 2amp battery will run the Stanley torch for 24hrs -Just point it at ceiling and it lights up the room.
Failing that just plug genny in and turn the key :)

I think this is indecency unnecessary scare mongering but it does highlight the myopic gouvernement with the lack of investment in alternative energy and nuclear etc..

When I was younger we used to get regular power cuts (not in the UK obviously) I believe they were scheduled. However the fact that it could happen now in this day and age is pretty poor.

From overhearing the news early this morning, it has gone from a remote chance to IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN AND YOU WILL ALL DIE by this evenings news.

I'm staggered anyone listens and takes notice of these poor excesses for journos.

Slightly O/T, but still....

As this is the OCUK forum and not the OCUSA forum, please can the thread title be edited to the term, 'power cuts' and not power outages.

Thanks.

Oh, and in before vote name change, etc :D

Back in my day there was frost on the inside of the windows during winter and we went over to a neighbours to watch a tv that didn’t have colour..

Oh the young pups on here are going to have a shock if we do get blackouts..

Those boxes on the side of the road can make calls if you put money in them.. just incase you forgot to charge your mobile.. oh not that you will know any numbers off the top of your head.

Open the mines back up and send the kids down I say.
