Potential power outages this winter

I have a Superser or box heater as it’s now called. I will be getting a new bottle of gas soon ‘just in case’.

It’s a great piece of kit but only really heats a room or so at most. Still wouldn’t be without it! Saved my bacon a few times over the years when the heating broke down.

Does this also mean our gas supplies will be cut off? If so, there goes my gas cooker as backup for boiling water. :(
Both your gas central heating / shower and cooker use electricity to switch the appliances on so yes no electricity also means no gas

You cook bacon on it? :)

I meant more if the power goes off I cannot get heating or cook food
But you aren't going to instantly freeze or starve.

I'm sure for a few hours you can put on an extra layer of clothes and survive on some food that doesn't need cooking

like a 3rd world country now, silly.
Blaming everything on russia etc, just because old trussy signed a document to shut down the place where we keep our reserves. Bet you all the mp's houses will be fully functioning

Where have we heard project fear and worse case scenarios before ? Good job they didn't actual end up reality

Fact that PM wouldn't re affirm her previous guarantees gives me some cause for concern I mean if was really only a 1-2% chance would she be that nervous to be now more careful with her words ?

repenting on any brexit sins is equally pertinent ... (Trust in) Truss is trying to ensure Norway gas interconnectors and EU electricity are there to help in the times of need
(with the EU she now has two groups of friends .. like a child on facebook)

and, wondering why the UK government didn't make any energy reducing proposals eg this evenings stand-up. https://www.channel4.com/news/uk-energy-security-remains-very-strong-says-former-energy-minister
Germany is going to be in a dire situation this winter. If there people don’t freeze to death this winter, their industries will most likely have to shut down which means a downturn in economic activity and potentially a recession. Being the largest economy of the EU it will most likely drag the EU down with it, along with other countries that are dependent on supplying and buying from germanys manufacturing base. The grass is not greener on the other side of the fence.

But hey, people wanted war and they got war *shrugs shoulders*

A tiny problem compared to the longer term if Putin was emboldened by a weak West. And largely a failure of organisation and lack of willingness to go to some costs now to prevent a bigger problem and larger costs later... as we saw with COVID.

Arguably the germans are to blame for all this by buying into Russian gas so heavily its paid for Putins war essentially

I do not care what your reason is for why half hearted commitment to war and escalation to a nuclear conflict is good/necessary. I’ve heard it all before.

All I said is people wanted war and they got war. *shrugs shoulders*
Apparently those reasons aren’t good enough to stop them complaining about the fallout from war. We have multiple threads, pages long of people complaining.

I am not interested in arguing it for longer than necessary, I expect with the war continuously escalating and that aligning with every key world leaders desire (and no one wanting to de-escalate the situation) that a nuclear weapon will be used before this conflict is over. I would rather not be arguing on the internet when the white flash happens outside my window.

Panic

People are suggesting to use washing machine at night. Fine for those who live in houses. Not in bungalows or flats. Washers are quieter now but still wake me up when the water cuts off

There's still plenty of people who can't afford the fixed rates, demand may not be as high anyway. Sadly.
