Potential PS4.5 With Better CPU+GPU ?

Unlikely, the PS4, while popular, isn't popular enough to resort to Apple tactics of slight improvements with a re-release. Most people who already own a PS4 would be upset at this and people who'd be in the market to buy one new would just buy the current one, since it's cheaper and does the job. Only Nintendo does this sort of BS, and even then they only do it with their handhelds. If Sony did it too... I'd probably give up all hope for console gaming (and hate Nintendo more for bringing Apple-like iteration BS to gaming).

Consoles don't even do 1440p yet and as far as I can tell, there aren't even any TVs at 1440p. The jump from 1080p to 4k is huge and even now consoles are pushed to their limits just going for 1080p 60. And anyway, how many people even have 4k screens to play on? I don't know a single person (in real life, not online) who has a 4k screen.

The PS4 is good right now, it doesn't need a firepower boost to save it like the WiiU needs. Though the NX is shaping up to at least be on par with it, if rumours are to be believed (even though it should outperform a console released 3 years prior).

Well most console games can't do 1080P, It's 900P upscaled with glorious cinematic 24FPS :p

I hope the next gen of consoles is much better, The current one is just poop.
 
Only if you only care about resolution.

Games look and play great on my TV from both my XB1 and PS4. That's all that matters to me. Shocking isn't it?

They look and play great if you know nothing else yes, Having played XB1 and PS4 games, The aliasing in a lot of places was extremely noticeable to me and hella ugly, Something higher resolution could fix and that's not even mentioning the lower texture resolutions, Shadow pop ins etc....

MS and Sony should have gone the custom route like they did with the 360 and PS3, Now they were power houses for their time.
 
a revised model with higher specs yes would deffinitly rub people he wrong way, maybe as someone else said shipping with a hybrid hdd or even a full on ssd would be good, or maybe even with a sega cd/32x esq type of addon, that could work... oh wait...
 
Their won't be any graphics update, that's for sure. If anything it'll be smaller, quieter, cooler and have a bigger/faster hard drive.
 
This is what cracks me up ... Sony make TV's They know they are doing 4k , so why not make a console thats capable of doing 4k , Ok not for gaming , but have the internals in place as a media centre

Considering how well that approach worked for them last-gen (at least for the first few years), it's pretty obvious why they were so gaming-focused this time.

They could make the consoles real beasts if they wanted to but they'd be too expensive and no one would buy them. People are ok with sub £400 but anything higher and the average family wouldn't touch it. Or, like before, they could sell at a loss. Both companies didn't want to go down that road this gen and I really can't blame them tbh. Profitability via attachment rate is probably a thing of the past. Risky.
 
Don't understand why people are bashing this gen? Very happy with my PS4 and think it's a huge upgrade from my PS3. If you want ultra high end gaming get a gaming PC?
 
It's crazy how we buy £700 mobile phones but we wouldn't pay that for a console. I would have preferred a more powerful console for £500 but yeh I imagine some sort of contract agreement would be needed to lower/spread out the price of entry.

Edit: I do agree with the previous poster though. They offer a decent level of power compared to the PS3 and still offer some decent visuals - even when compared to PCs.

Killzones graphics really surprised me when I had a PS4 at launch.

Going to pick one up again when OLED TV prices drop. Should look fantastic.
 
What's mad is a flagship phone is 500 quid which a lot of people (myself included) are happy to pay every couple of years but a console lasts for 5 years plus and 400 quid is deemed expensive. I've got a feeling there's a bit more of a markyp in mobiles than there is on games consoles.
